hahahaha

I'm 175 and I ride a small on some bikes!

Modern geo really suits my primate body.... legs of an ant and the body and arms of an NBA all star, or more appropriately, the figure of an Orangutan...

If you can fit a decent dropper post on, definitely size up.

don't tell anyone, but if I were to buy some of the new geo bikes I'd size down to a medium to be able to fit a longer dropper and get the same / slightly more reach than I currently have. Only issue would then be top tube length, which is now reasonably long compared to mediums...

I up sized on my bike to get the reach and the angles but the seat tube height, dropper and stand over are now a little tricky as I have a 125mm that slammed is now 5mm too high for my bike fit measurements. An adjustable 150 or 170 OneUp dropper with the shims will fix that but the nut cracking element of the stand over does make it a bit tricky in steeper, stall moments when you have to get a foot down.

I'm bang on the middle of a Medium and Large @178cm. Tend towards the medium frames in the past, just feel more confident in it.

I am 1.78m and would not hesitate to rock a size Large Pascoe

There's actually term for this (if you didn't know already) called the "Ape index" (ratio of arm span to height). Incidentally it's high (>1) amongst NBA players, swimmers and climbers. Don't know if it helps with MTB.

I am sure helps to rock a wider than 800mm set of bars then :P

Same problem here. Got a 150 mm OneUp that I'm able to run at around 135mm drop.

I noticed that on the "1st gen" of lower-slacker-longer bikes, where the reach number grew, but the seat angles stayed the same. With steeper seat angles becoming more popular, the top tube lengths are pretty much what they've always been on older bikes, with the exception of a few bike brands where size small start with 1.2m wheel bases.
