Hi,

 

my wife and i will spend a month in south africa.

We both like to ride Enduro and DH.

 

Can anybody recomend some bike Shops with rental gear and maybe some guiding?

 

We will be around swaziland, Lesotho, garden route and capetown.

You need to go to the Garden Route Trail Park! It's close to Sedgefield. Best trails I've ridden in a while. I'm sure they'll also be able to help you with bikes and gear to rent.

IRideafrica.com might be your best bet for a guide who can show you DH/Enduro trails and also appear to have good quality rental bikes. They are Cape Town based.

Witfontein is awesome. Not as well marked as GRTP though.

It's always safer to ride in a group if you can.  Check local Facebook pages for group rides - or post on here closer to the time.  I'm sure the locals will be glad to show you around.

 

That said, a lot of cyclists ride alone or in pairs.  Just do a bit of research on which are the popular routes in the area.  Try not to do too many isolated back road routes by yourself...

Mozarelle most of these trails are well attended.

 

So even if you "ride alone", you will see others at the start, and possible may pass a few, or you may even be passed by others .....

 

 

If we stop for photos we often see others passing us ... even though it felt like we were alone on the trail.
