Hi

Soooo my dad wants to get into the cycling thing again,And I was wondering if anyone has tried these baggy cycling pants ?

My dad HATES things that sit tight. Even getting him to wear slim fit jeans was nearly impossible (don’t get me started with socks)so the normal cycling shorts are a hell no,

Underneath the baggies is generally a pair of tight cycling shorts of sorts. A different way of doing it is to buy a descent pair of either normal lycra cycling shorts or bib shorts and wear them under your favorite pair of board shorts.

Dedicated MTB Baggies tend to be a bit hardier though.

Do a search for "Baggies"

A lot of us had the same outlook when we started, until we experienced out first Camel rash from the incorrect short pant, or even underpant. Buy some Bennetts bum cream for him and leave it where he might find it one day, without having to discuss it... He might thank you later, or not.

Baggies for the win :)

seriously if you get a proper pair of cycling baggies they are super comfy and they give a bit more protection against tumbling off or getting muddy if you're on the trail.

If you go to the 'Lab they stock the worlds best baggies, but they don't stock the liners. They should be shunned for that reason. :)

Thanks ???? Or I’ll just give it to my mom,or ask her to talk to him about the shorts.

He is retiring at 63 and really really fit. I want to keep it that way. He just doesn’t see the point in all the fancy gear

Thank you. I can’t find the liners either, even for ladies.

He will have to get used to it. Everyone that is raving about baggies here wears something tight underneath!

There is no way to get around it, you need the padding to stay right where it needs to be... If he doesn't want padding at all, that is another story.

bib underneath, baggies on top. Yes, it's tight, but rash and chafing is a lot less fun than you might think. even liners can sag and droop - bibs stay put

He’ll ride in normal shorts if it’s up to him ! Because he is a bit older my mom and I have agreed that it would be a good idea to get him some padded shorts.

Just let him ride once without it and he too will agree that wearing padding under baggies is a good idea ;)

Haha yes that’s an excellent plan. His cycling skills might still be as good as when he was younger, but when you’re older you need something extra. I’m in my 20’s and I know I am going to have a sore butt, very fast ????
