Creating a route profile?

Quick question for the computer gurus......

 

I want to create some route profiles (elevation against distance). How do I do this?

 

I'm currently using Google Maps....am I missing something obvious?

Use Ride with GPS.  I've used it for creating many routes - give all the data you need and you can export it to use on your GPS for the actual ride.

+1 for Ride with GPS. You can do it in Strava too but it's not as comprehensive

Google Earth has a nice feature. It takes a bit of work though. You create the track and once you've spend many minutes clicking to plot and clicking to move and clicking to customize you can right click on the trail and ask it to display the elevation. It does this with a small graph across the bottom of your Google earth picture. Save as a Image and you have it.

I use Garmin Connect to allow downloading of the route, to use the virtual partner and turn-by-turn feature, rather than Ride With GPS (free version doesn’t allow the turn by turn.

 

However, all club rides/runs are done using Ride With GPS.
