Pure Savage Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 From Island lake up the hill and towards karatara you can do exactly 50km because you can add 7km of smooth gravel to your ride - and link it with the old George road via wilderness and you have a safe 100km ride with enough hills to keep it interestingYeah, staying at Island Lake, that Hoekwil climb is proper. Whats the road like over Outeniqua pass?

Personally don’t like it because there are often accidents involving big trucks but big shoulder and loads of people ride it regularly

Chadvdw67 Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Old George road yes, all 3 the others, this time of the year would be very very very dangerous with the amount of traffic and the way people drive in SA at the moment.Eugene at Cycle Worx in Sedgefield has group rides daily, alternating between MTB and Road, maybe join them?
