Salary payment advice needed

OK, so what happened Swift?

It is Monday, the weekend has come and gone.

What happened at the "shareholders" meeting ?

Sucky feedback, no money yet for salaries and there might not be any for the next 6 months, and even then the outcome is not guaranteed.

UIF is also not an option, as the bosses won't close up shop just yet.

On my side I am following up on any possible job opportunity, be it permanent or temporary, but things are really tough out there for most companies. Interview on Thursday went fine, but you can feel when things are not quite there, and I won't get my hopes up to get that job.

Thanks for the interest. We are still quite comfortable, plenty of savings to fall back on, just sucks to be actually using it instead of put more resources away for the future. Other people are not that lucky and needed to vacate their homes due to not being able to make rent.

And what happened with the Dude that said you must phone him and chat options?

He said that they don't have any positions currently :/

But he will look for positions with the companies they are dealing with as well.

Some positive feedback:

1. Got another job interview for Friday with a company I previously worked for, they do the type of work I enjoy.

2. A buddy has put me into contact with people that would need consulting engineering services on contract basis, so I am busy setting up my own consulting service with everything it entails.

3. If you okes want custom Titanium 3D printed parts designed and delivered, send me a PM and I can quote you.

Think hollow tubed organic shape titanium parts. The photo attached shows a 500mm x 500mm quadcopter frame, weighs 600 grams with tubes which are down to 3mm diameter with 0.6mm wall thickness which I helped to design and optimize for 3D printing. I am sure we can do Cranks, Derailer pulleys etc with some work, but I will probably start off with Bottle Cages, Garmin/GoPro mounts, tool case mounts etc

4. Also starting to develop an interactive science toy for kids off all ages, which me and my wife can rent out and sell.

Four pronged attack, no way I am getting caught with my pants around my knees ever again!

Thanks for all of your encouragement.

Good luck, Swift! Remember, if you don't get paid this month dont go in to work. And if they phone to ask where you are, just tell them that unfortunately you don't work for free. So you will come back to work whenever they paid you the two outstanding months salaries.

Also tell the new place that will offer you a job soon that you can start immediately. As in, the next day. Then just sms your manager and tell him you have resigned, cheers, etc etc. Because, and I can't stress this enough, you will NOT get paid for a months notice work.

Just staying away is abscontion, if you get paid or not. Having that on your record is not nice. Rather resign and move on.

Yep, normally they would hold back some payments that are due to you to ensure you work your notice period. Soooo, if I am not getting paid they can't really prevent me from leaving.

BUT, I'd like to keep the relationship with my colleagues and manager intact, great group of guys, they had nothing to do with us getting into the current situation.

My manager actually stated that one of the other guys resigned and he can't keep him to the month notice period, so the guy is free to go.

So what I will actually do is resign with immediate effect the moment a new employer can take me and then I will do some sort of arrangement with my manager in which I am available for any handover information or consultations at a pre-determined hourly rate, which would then be done after hours. So I would immediately be earning an actual salary at the new place and at the same time be building some billed hours at my old place for incase the company finally gets it's finances in order they can pay me my overdue backpay and the consulting hours.

No point in resigning before I have another offer on the table currently, as I don't have other ways yet of earning income. But be damned sure I am using office hours to set up my consulting stuff and run other errands. Our manager said we should do whatever we need to keep the pot on the boil, we don't have to put in leave if we need to be out of office for that.

Swift, hats off for a great attitude and work ethic.

As an aside, is your manager being paid ?

Nope, nobody is getting any salary.

The one owner used his pension savings to pay our December salaries, that was how convinced he was that he had a solution in place for the rest of the cashflow, but the deal fell through.

Very wise approach, all of this!
