Strava or operator, something is wrong

On the normal PC everything is there. My problem is the phone.

Even when it was not uploading a ride it did "record" it. I then un installed it and re installed the app on the phone. It did install but when I tried to log in it says: No internet connection.

So now I am one step worse off. Wont even be able to record a ride. I have a cateye on the bike to record distance, time and average speed but Strava is nice to see the improvement in certain areas.

I know it's a ridiculous answer, but why not just invest in a good GPS? They aren't all that pricey, especially here, used, and you won't have to worry about the phone at all?

I didn't want to say that out loud... But to be fair, even when using a proper GPS device its still frustrating if your Strava app is not working as it should.

Thanks all for the advice. I agree but all in good time.

I am not yet at a level where I can really warrant buying what I really want to get in terms of fitness. I initially wanted to monitor my heartrate to make sure I dont over rev the ticker. Things progressed from there.

I also had to buy a watch and shoes for my daughter which means there is no money left for dad's equipment.

So my plan was to continue as is this year still and beginning of next year look at getting something better.

But thanks to hubland and Robert in particular I am now a watch richer which I will try to get going.

Thanks a lot Robert for the watch and all the advice today to try and get Strava going. It is much appreciated.

Ok found the culprit. I phoned Samsung and they directed me to their guy who knows Strava.

It is quite embarrasing. My Note 3 is on Android 4.3. I never updated my phone software.

The guy googled and found out that the minimum requirement to operate is now 4.4.

Luckily my phone could update to 4.4. I did the update and at first Strava refused to log in still saying no internet connection.

I removed the app and re installed it again and bob' s your uncle. It is working.

Now the final problem. The 2 rides I G mailed to myself. How do I upload it into Strava?

Thanks once again for everybody being patient and all the help given especially Robert.

Here's the step by step guide to get your previous sessions loaded onto your profile:

  • Open your email which you sent the files on your PC
  • Click on download and save the files where you want to retrieve them from i.e. on your desktop or where ever you want to save it to.
  • Open Strava  :D.
  • On the right top corner hover your mouse over the + icon
  • Scroll down and click on "Upload Activity"
  • On the left hand side of the screen you will notice 4 options:
  1. Device
  2. File
  3. Manual
  4. Mobile
  • Click on the "File" option
  • Click on the "Choose file" button
  • Scroll to where you saved the files you want to upload and then click on Open.

The files you're looking to upload needs to be in a .tcx, .fit or .gpx format but I believe it will be as you logged it on your mobile

Cheers
