Natie S Posted January 25, 2019 Share Good morning Who here rides trails with full face helmets? Im considering getting one because i do a lot of single track riding alone. I really like the Uvex Jakkal HDE. It does fit very comfortable and are reasonably priced new. Thermophage
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted January 25, 2019 Share Yep. I and most of my riding crew ride with either a lightweight fullface (Fox ProFrame) or a convertible helmet, like the Jkll/Hde or Leatt DBX Enduro, Bell Super DH etc. Just gives extra protection for the face on the way down. NeverNotRolling Posted January 25, 2019 Share Hi Nate, I wear the Jakkyl HDE as well. It's a great helmet with the chin bar on, and feels very comfortable. It does feel a little big on the top when not using the chin bar, and also hot at times. But the peace of mind trumps it all. I too tend to ride singletrack alone and that's the reason I bought this helmet. This is where I bought mine: https://www.flook.co.za/product/uvex-jakkyl-hde-enduro-mtb-helmet-black
MrJacques Posted January 25, 2019 Share The MET Parachute looks like a nice option as well.

Have I fallen on my face before...not yet, will I? Dunno. Is it worth it to not wear the chinny...? No.

Thermophage Posted January 25, 2019 Share Thats a very good price.I can get this one here for R2800If it fits and it's comfy then yeah why not Good price.I prefer having the removable chin bar (which that one has I think), as opposed to the lightweight fullface...But I overheat fast. MrJacques Posted January 26, 2019 Share How well will those removable chin guard type helmets hold up in a crash? How easily do the chin guards come off?
Thermophage Posted January 26, 2019 Share How well will those removable chin guard type helmets hold up in a crash? How easily do the chin guards come off?Go check the test video's on YouTube. They work FAR better than not having a chin bar at all. capediver Posted January 27, 2019 Share Sorry. Just saw it says dummy. LolBwahahaha, no, it was my youngest's beau...after seeing him ride earlier with a half-lid enduro, I "suggested" he use my spare Bell....that very day.....for the sake of my youngest's peace of mind....TG otherwise he would have had supper through a straw....it definitely saved his face and head, no doubt about it...the roasty on his elbow was described by the doctor later as similar to a first degree burn...so maybe elbow pads will be also be on the shopping list as soon as the scab falls off!!!!
