Dirt Tracker Posted February 6, 2019 Share Looking for a new frame and narrowed of down to a couple of options. - 2018 Norco Sight Carbon 29 - 2019 YT Jeffsy Carbon- 2019 Guerrilla Gravity Smash (no reviews yet) Or any other recommendations? Both are coming in at about R22K so unfortunately a Ripmo, Offering or a Following MB aren't really on the radar. I'm looking for a gravity focused 29 trail bike (baring in mind that most trails in WC aren't going to test a full on enduro rig like a slash, Meta AM 29 or a sentinel) that is poppy and can be thrown around but enjoys railing the downs that you find around CT and Stellies. anybody seen george? Posted February 6, 2019 Share I believe these fit your bill: 120-135mm of travel but more than enough gruntTransition SmugglerBanshee PrimeCommencal META TRTrek Fuel (But add 140mm fork) (Sure some may hate on me for adding this but do not discount how capable this bike is)Then there is always the spaz Stumpy and Sturdy & Dependable Gaint Trance. Yo-Yo Posted February 6, 2019 Share I've ridden the Slash and look, it's burly but it' pretty usable on a lot of trails. I wouldn't take it for a 60km XC loop but day to day it's pretty good. Out of those options the Sight seems to be great. A few reviews have hit feeling like a shorter travel Ripmo and a Following (minus the skull tattoos and speed metal soundtrack) rolled into one. The GG looks interesting but now reviews might mean a gamble and has a Alu rear end. First reports has the less DH focussed shock setting as being very firm. Jeffsy. Last one was great and now they've 'updated' the geo the under current of the reports is it's lost a chunk of the fun that the old one had and that ability to goof around. You never know there might be a flood of older Jeffsy frame gong cheap as everyone rushes for the new shiny thing.

Thank you for the recommendations. The Smuggler seems a good option but I'm struggling to find a review for the new version that gives the kind of glowing feedback that the MK1 had. They seem to be quite neutral about it. Do you think the Prime / Meta are not a bit monster truck? I've ridden a Prime and felt it was a bit like a DH guys enduro ride. It felt very big for some reason.
Dirt Tracker Posted February 6, 2019 Share Does anyone know if there are new YT demo bikes in Cape Town or where I could demo a Sight?
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted February 6, 2019 Share I think the Norcos are in PE or George or something, but you should be able to demo a YT at the Black Sheep bike shop at Hoogies.

As a group its the cycles united shops that distribute them. Northcliff cycles in Jhb are one of them, I purchased the optic from there in January................... anybody seen george? Posted February 6, 2019 Share The Prime, yes, maybe a bit more of an AM enduro rig rather.META TR not a monster, great bike super fun & playful ride, META AM we talking beastmode. Simon123 Posted February 6, 2019 Share Intense Primer. Similar wants as you - and it was literally the best when I rode almost everything back to back. You can do 60km without issue, or smash the DH lines down Tokai / Glen etc. Dirt Tracker and Yo-Yo

You can do 60km without issue, or smash the DH lines down Tokai / Glen etc. I was thinking about the primer but the I thought it leaned towards more of a XC / trail whip. I've seen a few 2018s on run out at amazing prices. Any more feedback on how it goes on the Tokai / Jonkers / DH track? Might shift my focus. I heard it gets a bit twitchy at speed and on steeps. Simon123 Posted February 6, 2019 Share Stable and really good. Suspension handles the rough stuff incredibly well. Replaced the rear (shitty, but then isn't all RockShox stuff?) shock with a Fox DPX2 and after some time it's incredibly dialled. Use middle setting for longer rides and climbs. So bike is 140mm x 140mm and really takes everything thrown at it. Sure it's not a full on enduro bike, but I hit DH Tokai / Jonkers etc on it. For proper DH I have a DH bike, but I dont think I'm much slower.
