So, the question remains, what frame, and how much later in the year...? What are you thinking? Hardtail, squish, XC, Enduro, 29er, Plus Size? Depending on how much later in the year, I know of something that will tick most of these boxes, and not break the bank...!

I’m getting the gg Megatrail. I know it is a lot of bike. I have always wanted a long travel 650b bike so I thought I’d get something different. Probably around August. These parts are costing me an arm and a leg.

A garage is NICE, but certainly not compulsory.

The only issue with other workspaces is protecting the floor when chain lubricant or grease falls ...

If I had to do this in a room, I would get a painters scatter sheet.  Only R15 at the local hardware store.

Apart from protecting the carpets, you can also immediately find small parts that might fall during the build ...

PS - I actually bought a rubber sheet to protect the garage floor .... after a clean and lube I just wipe down the rubber sheet

Thats a nice neat setup... even the stuff in the background is all neat and orderly... if only I could keep little people from wrecking my garage every weekend.

Hiehehe .... Yes, sometimes their attempts at helping tripples my workload ....  still would not have it any other way.

At least Maritz is at an age where he now helps to clean his bike ... even helping his friend to clean her bike ...

Hey guys.

Is there a Torque wrench that can be used from tightning a headset to tightning the crank arms. I see most cover the lower nm but to tighten the cranks up is quite a jump.

Or if I do it by hand how tight is tight enough?

what crank arms?

I ended up getting two, a small 2-12 (or it might be 2-14)NM one for the little fiddly bits and a big 10-60NM for the stuff that needs to be really tight.

I find that I use the smaller one WAY more often though. Only had to use the big one a few times for things like suspension pivots and cassette.

Ah okay. I thought that I would only need it for the cranks. In that case it makes sense to have both even if I don’t use it that much.

JIP ....

I now have THREE of these wrenches ...

2-12, then the 10 -60 and then the larger one that goes up to 200 (or some such figure) ....

What on earth (on a bike) needs to be tighter than 60NM?

I get having a bigger one for cars and maybe motorbikes but on a bicycle?

My two are different (1/4' on the small one and 3/8' on the bigger one). I've got two adapters to convert one to the other and a bit of a mix of sockets (sockets are all 3/8', hex and torx heads are a mix of 1/4' and 3/8')

nope ....

1/4'' square on the smallest wrench  (small stuff on the bike)

3/8'' on the mid (bought this for working on a motorcycle)

1/2'' standard square on the large unit (obviously for working on a car ...)

YES, you do get adaptors
