VirtuGO?

Recommended Posts

This popped up in a FB ad yesterday, anyone looked into it?

Another Zwift?

Still in beta but free at the moment.

"BETA wanting to be BETTER

Please note that VirtuGO is in the BETA stage of development. You WILL come across bugs, graphical issues and missing functionality. In other words, VirtuGO can act like a teenager on occasions."

VirtuGO is lead by former pro-cyclist, Michael Rogers (CEO). His goal is to bring the joy of cycling to all, regardless of their level and to provide them with easy access to targeted world-class, science-based coaching to help them reach their individual personal health and fitness goals.

VirtuGO positions itself at the intersection between the virtual world experience and the demand for credible high-quality health and fitness coaching. Together with Daniel Healey, former Sports Scientist for Team BMC and Tinkoff-Saxo, Michael Rogers aims to bring the knowledge and science from 20 years professional cycling available to everybody.

From the outset, VirtuGO has three virtual worlds for users to choose from. The well-known Mallorca climb; Coll de Soller, Willunga Hill; known from Tour Down Under as well as a virtual world, called Pulseville. Additionally, more than 100 training sessions, as well as a large number of customized training plans can be found within VirtuGO.

For those who want to target training on improving their cycling fitness, there will be no better way to reach their goals in the shortest most effective way possible.

Was first launched at the Tour down under in 2018 (i think),  DC Rainmaker did an initial write up on it.

Been using it for a couple of months now, works ok although not very busy like Zwift with the number of riders on the courses.

Nice selection of workouts that can be used,

Only gripe is that it can take quite a while (minutes) for the software and routes to load before riding, so need to factor that in when using, as often checks for update.

It's free as a beta, so worth trying.

You can also look at Road Grand Tours https://www.roadgrandtours.com/

I used it a while back, but also had issues with it where it would just die in the middle of doing something or not load the course properly.  Although in saying that, I have upgraded my PC since then and haven't tried it out again.  Maybe I should give it another go.
Road Grand Tours was also great, but not that many routes to choose from last time I used it.

  • 4 weeks later...

Got this email today... so if you already registered as a beta tester, will get a few months more free

Thanks for taking part in the VirtuGO beta phase – we wouldn’t have made the progress we did without the sweat, time and feedback you put into the platform.

As you may have already seen, we are moving out of beta and will be charging a €5.95 monthly fee, with a 10-day free trial going forward. We believe that’s incredibly good value, giving you access to a brand new training community full of expert insight, as well as the VirtuGO platform.

However, because you were one of our beta testers, we’re extending your free access until 1st October 2019.

This means that you will be able to use VirtuGO for free for another five and a half months – after which you'll have the option of subscribing to VirtuGO at a very competitive price.

You don’t need to do anything to claim this, just keep logging those kilometres on VirtuGO.

Thank you again for your contributions and we look forward to seeing you on the virtual road.

The team at VirtuGO
