HI Eddie

Can you contact me with more info on who you dealt with in getting this info. Yes it is true we do not carry every Mavic item - their catalogue is massive, but we can usually accommodate special orders with our air freights every 4-6 weeks - on the rims we currently still have old stock (non UST version) as aftermarket rims are not big sellers it is not something we would bring in as a stock item if there was no demand - but can definitely get on special order for you.

but yeah if you can give me some info on who you dealt with i would appreciate it

my mail is gavins@dragons.co.za

Thank you ... sent you an email ... would be great if I could order those UST road rims locally :)

Hope Mavic can help you out - I had a similar problem couple of years back which was picked up here just like yours and they found stock near me so I was sorted. Good service.

BUT where is Shimano locally, with older parts at discounted prices?? Why block the old stuff that's on sale at CRC etc but you WILL NEVER find here? Local dealers will discount top-end stuff which is no help to me at all, thank you. What if I want a 2017 SLX derailleur (4 English pounds, that's all), why should I not be able to buy it if it is for sale elsewhere? At this rate, they better block second-hand sales because that's what I'll be doing - looking for kit on an old bike.

Yes, I'm not happy.

a year or two ago, I was looking for a 2 x 10 170mm (because she is a kortgat) XT crank for the missus. Contact Coolheats through dealer, was told "That is old technology, an we don't stock it."

Ended up getting the 1 x 10 upgrade kit (170mm cranks, shiter, derailleur and chain) from CRC for less than the cranks (175mm) locally. Also had it in my hands in 3 days (DHL was still around)

I'm very allergic to this kind of closedmindedness and arrogance.

Nail on the head!

Killing their own market!!!

Oh and to add, that’s exactly the dance I’m doing right now ????

Aramex global shopper solves the problem as you can specify a local German delivery adress

The only issue with Aramex is paying double VAT (in germany and then in SA)

Even the bike shops complain about Coolheat, their lack of stock and the like.

Yep, I have had my LBS order parts from CRC because Coolheat couldn't/wouldn't get them

someone should send Shimano Head Quarters the link to this thread :P

But shimano head quarters are making the decisions that no shimano distributor can sell out of their zone

But Shimano can put pressure on the distributor to deliver a competent level of service.

Did you take account of customs & excise too?

For most bike parts and technology (electronics, etc.) there are no duties (other than VAT).  There are duties for clothing, shoes and complete bikes.
