MudLark Posted June 26, 2019 Share Hi guys, is there any way to connect a Garmin Edge 1030 and a bluetooth trainer? It strikes me as a bit bizarre that the 1030 has both bluetooth and ANT+ built into it but only offers the option of connecting an ANT+ trainer and not a bluetooth trainer. Is there a widget or a workaround?
Dexter-morgan Posted June 26, 2019 Share I am sure there will be, I am sure there was a youtube video done for the Edge

MudLark Posted June 26, 2019 Share 1030 can connect via bloutooth to a trainer. Have done it with a Tacx Okay... thank you. Would appreciate it if you could explain how... because when I try to connect a Bluetooth trainer it only offers the option of ANT+ and the manual only speaks about ANT+ - no Bluetooth (see the link below). Miskien is ek maar 'n bietjie dom... https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/edge1030/EN-US/GUID-FFCC4A60-77F0-4DD8-9302-F78A50FBB0BE.html
Spinnekop Posted June 26, 2019 Share Well.....I think you add the trainer as a "device". i.e how you would add a speed sensor. Thus search for powermeter and it should pop up. Same with speed sensor. https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/edge1030/EN-US/GUID-E2E2DC23-7B94-43B4-A30D-5FF32270BEC4.html DieselnDust
DieselnDust Posted June 26, 2019 Share connect it as a power meter.the caveat to this is that it may not control all aspects of the trainer but that is a BLE limitation anyway from what I can see. MudLark Posted June 26, 2019 Share Okay. But when I run Rouvy on my iPad with blutetooth it controls all aspects of the trainer. So I doubt that's a limitation. DieselnDust

I think the limitation is there's only two way connection between to devices while ANT+ allows multiple connections
MudLark Posted June 26, 2019 Share Not sure. Polar H10 Bluetooth can connect to at least two devics simultaneously. But here again, I'm only trying to connect a single device - a Bluetooth trainer. IMHO, Garmin's dropped the ball on this one.

EmptyB Posted September 1, 2019 Share well my 1030 is back at Garmin due to blue halo syndrome again...What was the outcome? How many times have you had the blue halo problem?
DieselnDust Posted September 1, 2019 Share What was the outcome? How many times have you had the blue halo problem? The unit was replaced. The previous unit was the first blue halo problem. One before that the screen just died. Apparently blue halo is common and known problem.
