Indoor Trainer

Howzit guys,

 

I have a choice to buy one of the following, which would you buy:

 

- Giant Cyclotron Mag Trainer (Blue) - Secondhand - looks pretty decent from the pics. R700. Guy says its only been used 3 times.

 

OR

 

- Marvel T1 from Cyclelab - New - looks awesome. R999. Can't find any other info on it.

 

I'm abit skeptical about both...for various reasons.

 

(All I want is a simple, non-expensive indoor trainer that I can use when the weather is shitty...)

 

Any advice well received.

Between those two, I'd prefer the Giant trainer - its right-hand lever is a quick-release type, so once you have it set up for your bike, putting the bike on or taking it off is just a bit less tedious.

For somethings thats decent - get the fluid 2 for a bit more.

Will be much better than both you mentioned.

Between those two .... uhm, both will gather dust at the same rate .... 

 

A "dumb trainer" is mind numbingly boring !!!!!!!! 

 

 

Ooooo, I own the Marvel one (has a nice thick layer of dust on it...) -

 

 

 

Your neighbours will need ear-plugs if you try to use MTB tires on it.  Road tires are okay, as long as you idle along.  Put down any power and the whine of the tire-on-roller almost drowns out the boredom ....

 

 

Rather spend R3k on a secondhand "smart roller trainer".
