The time cut works on a % of the winner’s time and average speed.

I think post #1454 explains the %.

Be sure to use the mountains table.

Convert the winner’s time to minutes.

Multiply by the % relative to the average speed

This will give the estimated time cut.

That is the aspect that I don't understand fully.

Who decides whether it is Coefficient 2, 3 or 4 today? And how is that decided? (I can see that today is not Coefficient 1, 5 or 6)

The cuttoff time for a 5 hour stage will vary from 36mins if they average 40km/h on coefficient 2 vs 54 mins for a coefficient 4.

Stop with the nonsense, ride commentary pls ...

Gibbons is 10'12s behind the leaders along with caleb Ewan, two LTS riders are seeing them home, still looking OK to finish within the time cut.

GC group is 7mins behind Madoudas, who has 34s lead on the Breakaway. 1.1km from the top of the Cat 2 climb which is still 106km from the finish.

Still to come:

Cat 3 - Cat 3 - Cat 2 - Cat 1

falls ? Nope

drop outs ? Don't think so, unless I missed something (Gen?)

damp squibs ? Relaxed now, everybody made peace with the composition. Tune in again at 16h00, when things should liven up again.

sunweb ? Not in the break

The main obstacle in the TT is 5.9 kms at 8.5% That is not the kind of climb that suits a climber like Quintana or Bernal. It is a climb that suits a Roglic and a Pogacar.

When we did 2 days recon before Dauphine it is a interesting TT. If you do not do a bike change you dead in the water and then how efficient that change is and where.

Then add gearing,Wheel choice, tyres and pressure in and it’s a very technical TT overall.

You can make up 2min or lose 4min.

SNIP

They have now sent another LTS rider back to pull them to the finish.

4 LTS riders + Gibbons are now 10 mins 23s behind the leaders
