R1= full UD carbon outsoleR5 = Nylon composite outsole Copy/pasta from the fizik website... And it's not really a cliche, but in cycling, carbon will beat nylon everytime. (Also, I run a Fizik Thar on my road race bike, so I clearly don't know about looking the part anyway...)
