Help Identifying This Dropper Post

Recommended Posts

Hi

Can anyone identify the brand and/or model of this dropper post. I can't see any brand name printed or etched on it. It needs a service and possibly a cartridge replacement. I'm trying to find out if spares are available.

27.2mm dia.

Roughly 100mm travel

Thanks

Is that a QR code at the top of the seat post? (last photo) - maybe you can scan that?

Thanks. Did that. It just equates to the number printed below the QR code (Photo not clear enough to see it). Googling this code doesn't reveal much.

That bottom cable actuator bit usually un-screws, remove the cartridge...may give you some clues...something like this...

What's the problem?Sticky, slow, stuck,

Usually these type of posts come alive again with a new cartridge....problem I have had is that the push rod of the cartridge gets wet down there where it screws into that bottom nut and then gets sticky in its sleeve and only actuates the drop but stays stuck so the seat doesn't rise...new cartridge, new dropper! Beware not all cartridges are the same...obviously length is one variable but some models don't have that thread at the top end....

I'd guess that a Lyne 272 kit will fit in there. There are very few factories that make a 272 dropper, and that looks very much like it comes from the same one as theirs.

First thing to do is clean and relube, with fresh seals if you can find them. Those cartridges hardly ever give up except the ones on the Giant posts, and those posts are basically disposable anyway cos you can't get service kits for them.

Thanks Guys.

So yes, it went down, and now wont come back up. I have managed to coax a small amount of movement out of it, but no more.

@droo This does come from my Giant Anthem. Came on the bike when I got it, but I don't believe it was OEM.

Seeming more and more like I'm in for a new post.

Yip, that little push rod is gunged up...I tried using WD40 in there, and then coaxing the rod in and out and it worked a bit better but eventually seized up..Giant as well! shelved as they didn't have the correct cartridges in stock at the time...had some good life out of it though..a couple French trips and local bound bashing for a few years....
