Anyone willing to speculate on when they will get to the good ol' RSA?

Based on the US pricing ($499 and $599 for base and solar respectively), I'm guessing they will sell for nothing less than R11k and R14k (respectively). Happy to eat my words if they are cheaper.

Was asking more about timing than pricing. But yeah, I reckon your guestimates are on the low side if anything.

 I might want to retract my statement - I can't spot anywhere that the 955 can store music, which my 945 can do now. I am in the market for a WHOOP however, and from the blurb I can see what the 955 has to offer is now very close to what the WHOOP strap can offer, not to mention not having to pay 30EUR subs.

Your best bet might be to contact Garmin ZA direct. Perhaps they'll have an estimate.

On the Garmin page it says it can sync with Spotify, Deezer and Amazon music. No idea about directly loading mp3s though.

They have historically been pretty useless in this regard. The responses I've gotten previously boiled down to "it will get here when it gets here".

Appreciate how Garmin takes the features omitted from the previous generation that were reserved for the more "pro" models and adds it the new generation. The FR 255 with Pay, Triathlon, Multi band now is really great. It's good to see that they push features along over to the new gens while still maintaining price laddering.

Also, am I reading correctly that the FR 255 has multi band GPS but non sapphire Fenix 7's do not? Weird... 🤨

The 255 looks a good option, unless you want the mapping facilities on the 955

This leaves a smaller gap for the forerunner 600 and 700 series to fill. IMO should drop one of those.

Don't know much about the 700 series but as for the 645, that will probably be the last of that line as the Forerunner 255M can do everything that the 645 can do.
