I would use Aramex global shopper with this.

Thus : shipping is free (much cheaper) from China to for instance Singapore. Then from Singapore  to South Africa  it is Aramex to Aramex - no SA post office which is also a big win!

Have done it a few times in the past.

Once Aramex Singapore received the parcel they will issue you with a manifest (most of the time just a little bit more that our local 15% VAT - calculated on the amount in Rand's reflecting on your credit card.)

With the app on my cellphone the movement of the parcel can easily be tracked. (once received by Aramex Singapore) Before that use tracking on Aliexpress 

Use also the app to pay the manifest amount due  - very easy.

Sometimes Aramex could request an invoice from you before issuing the manifest - As Aliexpress don't issue invoices , I send then a screen-print of my order and Credit card statement where the amount reflects in Rand, It has always been accepted like this in the past with no issues.

My last parcel (during lock down) still took about 2 months but I used an address in Taiwan

Please note : Aliexpress don't ship to an address in China
