Hi everyone!

I trust everyone is well.

I am 1.86m tall and weigh 100kg.

I am finding it very difficult to find a 29er bike on a budget.

Does anyone have any advice for me?Should I be patient and build a bike piece by piece or rather save up for one?

My contact number is 060 653 2135

I am in Muldersdrift, Gauteng!

The prices for bikes are overwhelming at the moment🤯

Hi Depending on your budget obivously.... My advice would be not to get a top of the line bike for your first one, especially a mountain bike, the reason for this is that while you are learning to ride you will, scratch it, eat the gears while learning to shift correctly. My first bike was an Oryx 29er with entry level parts and it taught me to ride correctly, it still lives and works well, although I have a new bike now. Go to Cajees Cycles on Hedrik Potgieter Road and look at what they have there.

Hi Damien, make contact with @RobertWhitehead here on the Hub. He will be able to assist with great advice and might even have a bike/help with a build? Cheers

Side note: Second hand sales becomes more after the Amashova/ 947/ Argus. Many people tend to give up after that. Perhaps look out over these times, if you haven’t won yet.

The way I see it you will either hate cycling and the bike will gather dust in your garage or the bug will bite and you would want to upgrade within the next few months anyway.

So my advice to a new rider would be to not to fret too much about getting your first purchase exactly right (because by next year it won't matter anyway). And when you upgrade you will have a far better idea of what type of riding appeals to you and be able to make an informed decision.

Personally I found the second hand market to be daunting when I was new to cycling, for me it was easier to start out with an entry level bike from a reputable bike shop and only later on I started looking for good secondhand deals.

i am currently selling my silverback. It has midrange parts so it is not expensive to maintain and is in good condition. Let me know if you are interested.
