You're not having much luck with your woman/groupset package deals.

Does Chris Froome have a British passport as well?

I wonder since he was born in Kenya' date=' he might actually have one

Apparently he has claimed ancestral citizenship via his grandpa.

Froome took a British licence in order to stand a (small) chance of competing at the Olympics' date=' since Kenya has no start slots for road cycling.[/quote']

Don't imagine he has any chance.  Does the Great Britain even have the full complement of 5 slots?

Even with 5, lets assume Millar and Hammond will take spots 1 & 2.  Then theres Cavendish if he wants to ride but probably not, Wiggins, Lloyd, hunt, Wegelius.  After that, probably the Downings, Malcolm Elliot (that would be cool) and some of the other local racers.  Can't see Froome even getting a look in.

Wiggins and Cav only on the track, same as at Olympics... Unless there's a Cipo style course for Cav one year, and I don't think the pom federation has the clout to pull that off. Millar probably only TT (ok, and maybe wiggo) and he's retiring this year, remember most of the names on your list are nearly ten years older than Froome. I don't think FRoome took the Pom license for this year, he's still got plenty of riding in his legs...

Some young pro riders' ages, just for interest sake, and to compare:

John-Lee Augustyn - 1986 (turns 22 in November)

Riccardo Ricco - 1983 (turns 25 in September)

Gerald Ciolek - 1986 (turns 22 in September)

Simon Spilak - 1986 (22)

Eros Capecchi - 1986 (22)

Vincenzo Nibali - 1984 (turns 24 in November)

Scary to think that Andy Schleck finished second in the Giro before his 22nd birthday. John-Lee can still compete in the best young rider competition for the next three years.

This is bull**** You take out a licence where you reside has nothing to do with olympics.

Boonen has Monaco licence as did Rasmussen though they ride for their home country.

Plenty of dutch have belgian licence though ride for netherlands.

Me had a saffa licence but still had to be selected by my home country(well was too slow).

You need the correct passport licence is doesn't matter.

Cavendish?? Hammond?? Hunt no use on this course for sprint cannons or bulky classic boys.

LLoyd?? Hope you don't mean Matthew Lloyd cos he's from OZ

ErmmI think you must be resident in a country for ?? number of years to qualify to represent that country in Olympics - I seem to remember the situation with Zola Budd a few years back and the controversy with her wanting to run as a Brit.

Getting back to the initial thread - I am just hoping that JL is going to finish the Tour just so he can give the finger to the sceptics! (including one in his own team). Would also really like to see him get in a break or do something that would put him in the spotlight for a while!
