There's an inkling about the OP which is probably hurting entries.

Seems to be a weird race entry process & a very small field! Wonder how people are determined to be "good enough" to part with cash?

Right, stuff like this off the event site definitely raises some flags! Wood one be surprised if one was to fetch up without a leader?

No relation to the OP, but they actually put on events and have a following. I don't twyfel their ability/legitimacy:

Thanks, didn't realise it was the same crowd as Sedgefield 500, that's definitely a legit event.

Still a bit weird to suggest that an event is a race and that it's going to start in the Waterfront... wonder how they got permission for that..

Sorry. A bit slow here. What’s the suggestion being made?

I seriously doubt they bothered to ask, do you really need permission thought to set off a handful of cyclists from the parking lot? 🤷‍♂️

I highly doubt they have. However if it's an actual organised event then Waterfronts company would definitely require them to follow procedure. Loads of red tape involved I'm sure.

Big difference between a couple of mates agreeing to start a ride somewhere and an events organiser holding an event start.

Depends on how you choose to define "organised event"...

We are also not there to help you in anyway. You take yourself to the start, check in, then the event starts at the allocated local time. We are not there on emails or phone. You are on your own and this is your journey to complete. We are not going to hold your hands, the only way you get the satisfaction of completing it is by doing it yourself.

Not much more to this than a gpx file and a tracker.

I think it's R2k.

Which is awesome

But you seem to get only a GPX file for the money. Maybe I'm misreading it or don't understand bit why do this rather than a solo ride with a credit card and cash in the top tube bag?

I did that last weekend for munga training solo.

Interested to hear race report

I suspect something that has an entry fee classifies as an organised event...

Not a bad model, put some effort into route creation and then get people to pay for the time you've invested. On that note....I've got some GPX files of gravel routes in the Southern Cape, anyone keen to start the bidding at R1500 a file? I'll throw in a complementary pair of hardly used socks 😆
