Now how do you get into $ at CTCT is a whole other can of worms. Last year you needed a seeding index below 3!

I got seeded in $ only once in all my Tours back when Lance came to visit. I decided to not ride $ that day. Regret that decision to this day, as I have never got $ seeding again.

I think if they actually used more than one race for seeding it might alleviate some of the issues.

The way the system works now, is if you do 6 races for instance, you only need one good result to get that seeding. Using a 6 month average i think makes more sense. Then at least consistency is been taken into account.

They use to do something like this with the weighting system. I am not sure when that ended actually but it took your 3 best rides with each getting a weighting to give you an average index. That was back when we still had enough races for Club 2000 and 3000.

It's really almost impossible.

I did One Tonner 172km in 41.5kph average finishing in the winning 4-man break a couple of minutes ahead of the bunch and only got a 4.9 seeding for it. 😢

Only getting a 4.9 for that is crazy!!

CTCT has bigger groups so its hard to see where you will be seeded now. The last few years my B seeding has always afforded me a Sub Vets or Masters (more recently) start but now that my seeding has slipped thanks to a slow B group in 99er maybe I end up in 1A or 1B? Does it matter? Maybe maybe not. Any group down to 1E can sub3 but the racing and ride dynamic is very different between the racing groups and the seeded groups

The front bunch at Cycle tour is 150, if you account for 40ish people for international, sponsors etc. Does that mean there are 110 guys who are under 3? Doesn’t seem likely

I think it is likely yes. I suspect most elites from 947 will have a seeding under 3, and it's not yet penalised like last year's CTCT is for being older than 6 months. I got a 1.7 from the breakaway at Oudtshoorn and at Winelands my race number was $11, so I suspect at least 30 or 40 Western Cape locals have a seeding below 3.

Had a great day out in AG - the Trilogy is a very cool event, a real skills tester, from road racing to hooking berms in the singletrack. Great course design!
My only gripe is that flat-bar mountain bikes were allowed in the bunch - makes for some very dodgy bunch riding, I saw many near-misses when an 800mm-odd bar on an MTB got tangled up with a curly-bar rider trying to maximise slip. Please consider making this a drop-bar only event.

I see there were musical chairs at the podium presentation.  No line judges? Why

Hi. Not sure exactly what you mean... I was out on the road at the time of presentation of the 95k winners

Referring to the gravel race. 2nd finished 1st on FTime,  1st placed was 1st on podium,  2nd placed was 2nd on podium then swopped with 3rd placed rider who finished in 3rd a few bike lengths back.

@NicholasH while you are finding out stuff ....  is there a video of the 3rd and 4th place finish, 95km.

Results suggest this was a photo finish.  With that straight finish it must have been something to watch.

Our (99er) finish marshal confirmed with me that FT had to go to their backend system and measure the time to the 100th of second to determine the winner...😬

We (99er) don't have video. This would have been taken by WP Commissaires

However, interestingly, the finish was not AS FAST as we had expected. Apparently 2nd place sat up once he saw 1st place was taking it. BUT, I was not there to see so it is hearsay
