Someone definitely made  a mistake unless you are U23 or Elite level racer?

To Race in a racing category all you need is a CSA MEMBERSHIP @R250/annum. A racing license is only required if you want to attain Nation colours or represent your province at a National level event.

I think the confusion is if you want to be eligible for prize/cat positions. You should technically have a racing license

b.        To be eligible for prize money, riders may require a racing license as per the Cycling SA regulations.

Take Fairtrees Rd (the one you start into, but turn right), left at the first robot into Legato (away from the golf course), continue till the second circle, hang a right down Brackenfell Blvd all the way to Bottelary. You will likely get a lot of Brackenfell cyclists also going back home that way.

That looks easy enough, thanks!

I am definitely not U23 or elite. 🤣 But good to know I give off those vibes. 😎

So I've got a ride to the start. Can anyone recommend a safe cycling route back to stellenbosch? Once I'm on either Bottelary or Polkadraai I'm sorted, but a sensible route from the race end to there would be appreciated.

From the finish venue (not finish line) head toward Brackenfell Boulevard (general direction to the right as you leave the venue) that will take you straight to Bottlery or Polka. Very safe, we often ride it

E. Tandem (#).  Riding the 99er with my son in preparation for the CTCT.  I'll keep to the left to let the racing bunches coming up behind us pass.

E: E-biker doing the 95km.  Bonus would be to improve my CTCT seeding.  Yes, I see myself as a "weekend warrior" .... but the amish may object ....

To be fair what we think we look like and what we ACTUALLY look like is a universal problem 😆

Did I see you at the entrance to the venue this afternoon ?  about 4:00ish ...  You were talking to another gent .... I was trying to figure how to get into the venue with my bike, having cycled there after work.

Managed to pull a proper blond move on myself ... :P

With the two gents talking in the entrance I was so focussed on getting in that I ducked right ... missing the BIG sign right behind you showing to enter to the LEFT.

One of the volunteers took pity on the toppie with his bike, and got my details and collected my entry envelope for me.  Dankie tannie.

I asked if I have to join the second line.  She asked if I had the new number board.... yes, okay so you can go, no need for the second line ....  guess I will find out in due cource if it was important ....

in fairness to blonds, both natural and chemically induced  .... more prominent signs are needed for (some) ebikers ....   (not sure how much more prominent it can be :whistling:)

Well , if you want recognition in any sanctioned race you should have a racing license for your age category. Some classes of racing don’t require certain age groups to have a licenses but it is always a prerequisite for juniors, U19, U23 and Elite.

Number pickup was smooth. Just disappointed that my two primary school boys and I had to walk through a "blou gerookte" bar packed with ethanol invested patrons (16h30) to get to the race number collection point. Juxtaposition was not lost on us.

Ja, unfortunately the rugby club has the ethanol distribution centre open on a Friday afternoon.

We gain nothing from that other than venue use.

I will raise this as a point we can review for next time. Thx for comment.

I know Finish Time is not "your thing".  Do you possibly know if scanning the envelope is crital ?

Should I go have it scanned tomorrow morning ?

Jokes aside, that is probably the reason I went to the right (after missing the very obvious sign.)

Glanced left ... saw the avtive pub ...

Looked right and avoided the pub ....
