Assuming you are going to ride out using Adderley road until Philadelphia road. There is no shoulder but it’s farm roads with not much traffic. You could also take Wellington road out which has a shoulder  until Philadelphia Road but that means you are longer on the Philadelphia road with no shoulder.

Adderly road, leaving Durbanville has no shoulder.  LOTS of cyclists on this road !!

Same once you turn towards Philladelphia. Still reasonably safe.

About 2km past Philladelphia the road passes under the N7 ... now you pick up the Atlantis business traffic.  This should not br an issue on your date.

Once you turn onto thr Old Mamre road the game changes .... this road is littered with potholes, in the shade of the trees. Thankfully a short section.

The Melkbos strand road has a shoulder, and regular cyclists.

I often use the N7 (Flame suit on) from Philadelphia to Melkbos turnoff, it is a short section and huge shoulder and it is fast.

I was looking at it last week, and as wrong as it may be, it certainly makes sense.

From the Philladelphia side it is one long climb.

Coming back it is one fast decent .... negotiating the traffic turning into the Engen would require some attention, but for the rest this will be a very quick section.

Right or wrong ..... it must be a lot safer than that Old Mamre section ....

There are a couple of Miltnerton/Melkbos clubs that cycle to Philladelphia, often see them at Pepper Tree .... I wonder which routes they take.

This was I ride I did with The Outriders to Pepper Tree a couple of years ago. It was a clockwise route.

I did this one many moons ago. From Philadelphia I crossed the N7 and headed north on Old Mamre then took the Brakkefontein gravel road to the R27 and headed south to Duynefontein where I exited the R27.

Check out this route on Strava: https://strava.app.link/GF0VwclGPPb — Sunningdale to Durbanville to Philly to Melkbos to Sunningdale
