HI All

I have recently had to replace a new controller for my mid-drive "500W" Bafang motor.

This thing is overpowering and haywire.  I would like to have it turned down for distance and not speed. Who does this locally?

The problems are:

Highly sensitive and motor comes on full power without peddling, even when stopped.  Very dangerous indeed.

Can reach speed of 60kms hour

Distance on battery is halved and gear changes are rough as there is no run-off.  Something is going to give?

Does not switch of when stopping peddling (Eg, at a stopstreet or opening entrance gate at home)

No slow speed

Tried the supplier but they do not answer phone,  mail or messages..

Is this something I can do myself if I get the cable and program?

Thanks.

Tried them both. No response.

Try calling Knipe. I was there yesterday and they are very busy as they opened on Monday after the holidays. Even though they were busy, they sorted me out quick quick.

Chilled Squirrel will almost certainly be able to assist, else advise you - they MIGHT only be returning to work on 13th Jan, despite Google saying they 'open' at 08H30.

I guess this is a Bafang kit you self-installed, but no matter - I feel sure they would assist you - they are usually very reliable, and communicate well.

You can SELF-regulate maximum assist speed under settings on your display - unsure WHICH display you have, and there are 7 or 8 different models (!), but 'cycling' through the options allows you to set a maximum assist speed - that alone should be useful, and if you have a thumb throttle - consider disconnecting it, IN CASE that is a link in the problem...

a short summary of Bafang displays here, etc...: https://www.bafangers.com/en/types-of-display-for-bafang-kits/

Good luck, and let us know what you find?

Chris
