Hi folks. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am trying to use TrainingPeaks virtual with a Cyclus2 ERG, but there seems to be some sort of issue/mismatch between training peaks and my trainer, and if I try loading a workout in training peaks, it seems to set the resistance correctly if you look at the readout on the trainers screen, but you don’t feel the resistance on in the pedals, meaning I have to spin at ridiculous speeds to even just reach 120w. Same if I do a workout that simulates terrain, the gradient increases on the trainers dispay, but there is no resistance felt in the pedals.

the trainer works 100% in manual mode, or if I load a workout directly to it.

the one thing I notice is that the cadence readout on the trainer and in TrainingPeaks virtual is the same, but the speeds are significantly different. So I think the issue is some sort of mismatch between the virtual gearing on TP and the virtual gearing on the trainer (which is set up to match my bike fitted to it)

has anyone had a similar issue, and how did you solve it? I can’t seem to find anywhere to set the actual gear ratios or wheelsize in training peaks - I assumed it reads that from the trainer, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Have you tried with the Compatibility Mode on/off?

Under trainer settings make sure you have selected the correct Workout resistance mode.

I wouls assume to doing a training workout session which means you should be in Erg mode

Thanks. Yes I have tried comparability mode both on and off, and feel no difference.

I definately had it in ERG mode. But then that didn’t do anything, I also tried terrain mode, and that also didn’t do anything.

I realise now that I am picking up the trainer as both a smart trainer and a power meter in TPvirtual, and I had it set to use power meter as primary power source…. Which could be the problem. I am going to unpair the power meter and let it read power from the trainer only, and see if that helps.

I have given up. I tried ROUVY and MyWoosh now and get the same issue. The trainer connects automatically on all the platforms, and displays everything to the screen as if should, but just doesn’t want to adjust the resistance to match the workout or terrain - even though the readout on the trainers display shows the gradient or watts increasing.

I’m just going to have to stick with watching YouTube videos and loading the workouts via USB to the Ergometer

Hi SamTaylor,

I have exactly the same problem with the Wahoo Kickr Core and don’t have a solution. I wrote this evening to TrainingPeaks, as fast as I get an answer, I let you know

Which model do you have? There are a few listed on the site. This one shows that it works on Zwift, and therefore should work on other similar apps.

Ant+ and BLE troubleshooting 101:

1. Bluetooth (BLE) connections work on a 1:1 relationship, meaning it can only pair with one device at a time. If you use BLE, switch off all other devices that could use the same connection.

2. Ant+ can read from multiple devices at the same time, and is widely regarded as a better protocol to use,  it also has its own problems.

3. When pairing equipment, in TP Virtual, it can show all devices in range, both Ant+ and BLE, so you need to try both connection protocols.

see images in Zwift, and TP Virtual below, where the Ant+ and BLE sensors are picked up where Ant+ is not picking up.

I use a Kickr Core and hardly ever have problems with TP Virtual, but more so with Zwift, when the Ant+ dongle isn’t picked up by my 2012 Macbook.

Do you have the Bluetooth and Ant+ icons (top left of the pair device screen in TPV) showing active?

From there, it becomes a process of elimination, where you make one change at a time and see how it responds. Write it down, so the next time you don’t have to guess.

I found that a restart fixes most things, follow by disconnecting all devices that could possibly connect (head unit, watch, other computers, etc).

Last bit is that I will always make sure the connection is made the day before I want to workout. App updates, device issues and more can be resolved before the intended session starts. Even logging in and letting it idle helps.

Have the exact device in the picture. My manual actually talks about its connectivity with ROUVY, but the protocol should be similar for other software, and I have tried ROUVY, TPV and MyWoosh.

Will try getting the issue sorted out with the distributor in the week.

Today was a chilled ride, but rather windy; both a head- and tail-wind at the same time, while riding up a 10% climb (Ven-Top).
