Just get a small or meduim frame 29". At your height, you can ride a small 29". The bigger wheel has better rolling and you go farther for every crank revolution. 26" is a more of a kids bike. 27.5 is also good, but the bigger wheel is better.

At 1,65m my godson moved from a medium 26" to a medium 29".

Commuting ... a non issue.

Trails .... the 29" wheels do roll nicer over terrain.

That said, rather decent spec 26" than a crappy 29".

Just know that a 26" has a limited audience .... so dont expect to get your money back.

Here are some Cape ones that look nice. Remember all prices are negotiable 😁 Willing seller, willing buyer and all that.

Signal S910 with Shimano components (the fork is decent and serviceable too)

I like Signal frames and geometry - with the Shimano bits this will be a very decent bike.

Small frame Momsen with good components

Worth noting that it has 29” wheels - a lot of size S have 27.5 wheels - might be a bit too small for you though. If you feel scrunched up on it you know.

Titan Drone Dash

Not sure what components it has but it’s a nice looking bike and you might be able to transfer the warranty.

I would definitely negotiate on the price of all of these bikes.

Thank you so much.  I'm looking the look of the Titan Drone!

As someone who's never had air forks, would they be worth it if 80% of the time will likely be tar and gravel? Is it a lot of maintenance?

Tar and gravel quickly becomes less tar and more dirt 😂  As your confidence increases the paths you choose, change, and eventually the A line becomes the only line and the B line (easier) option is forgotten.

Air forks are the only way! Coil forks are a thing of the past. Some bikes still come out with them but that’s simply to bring costs down and has nothing to do with reliability.

Again though - not all forks are created equal, but for your purposes a Rockshox/Fox/SR Suntour air fork will serve you just fine and are all serviceable. I honestly don’t even know if you can service coil forks anymore 🤷‍♀️

A friend bought a bike last week .... "to ride around the block", "WONT go off road with it.."

Got the bike on Friday.

Road around the block on Saturday

Went trail riding on Sunday ...

I can just see him upgrading to full suspension in a few months.

Rather go with the signal. It's got the best specs but if its too pricey then take the Momsen over the titan.

And yes, air forks are 100% worth it!
