what's in the last 5km ? I'm wondering about tyre choice, there's a lot of tar at the begining, then I know the van der stel pass section but after that it's the unknown ?

Think the most complaints came from a few crossings over farm land with some bumpy grass bits and such.

Nothing very rocky or rough to the point you need larger volume tyres, but just bumpy and uncomfortable after a long day. I had 40s and was pinning it very crudely down there as I was very cross-eyed at that stage.

This has been improved to a smooth flowing single track according to the site.Ā

Last year all the other gravel roads were champagne.Ā

Pick tyres for the 150km not the potential 5km.

My picks for the day is a 45 Spez tracer with a 42 pathfinder out back.

Thanks, yeah I have a tracer 50 front and 48 thundero HD back, was thinking of moving the thundero front and go sworks pathfinder 42 rear to drop some weight for the climb, if it’s not too bumpy or rocky it should survive the distance and hopefully not be too uncomfortable ?

Pathfinder is slower and the weight difference is 1/2 a sip of water.Ā

Would not bother with the effort of switching those.Ā

you must drink some big sips for them to be 200g

200g? Where did you get that? I wrote half a sip not half a bottle. It’s 35g per Tyre.
