Hi Hubbers

I'm on a business trip to Europe next month and I'm thinking of buying from Bikeinn while there.  Is Bikeinn a good online store or is there another store you would recommend?

I noticed that the price jumps a lot when I select Euros instead of ZAR but then there's the shipping.  Anyone had that issue?  Hoping to get some sound advice here.

I'll be in Spain and Portugal if that makes a difference.

TIA!

Local tax being added.

I have had good dealings with them previously.

The jump in price is the local VAT that gets added.  When shipped international, no VAT is charged and you will only pay local VAT when it clears the borders.

use the search man, there's a post with plenty answers. had absolutely no issues with bikeinn, great store, even better if you're over there as you'll benefit from all the stock they have and no stupid taxes

Be wary, if you are on a tight deadline they don't always have stock, so you can wait for some time before they ship. Otherwise, if they do have stock, they are pretty good. I rather order from r2-bike or bike24 when I am in Europe. Much more reliable shipping times and stock counts.

A newbie question (not a yet-setter)

If you an item in Europe, and already pay their taxes .... what is the "tax risks" when you bring it back on your flight ?

I am not a fan of bikeinn as I had a bad experience when one of the items that I ordered was not included in the package and they insisted that I should have checked the package before the courier company left.

I can recommend https://www.bike-discount.de/en and https://www.bike24.com/. (Both German based)

Set the websites to Spain and Portugal when you view the items as EU VAT is not shown in the price when it is set to SA.

Order 7 to 10 days in advance, if you can, to make sure that the items are delivered in time.

If it’s over R5000 you have to declare it and pay tax when you arrive. Very few people do though

With German sites you can get an EU VAT refund which is often worth it. You just need to fill out the forms on their site and get a stamp from customs when you leave. Then post the forms back to them and they will issue a refund.

Don’t use the VAT refund services in airports. You get almost nothing back.
