Howdy,

I'm doing the 36One again this year and want to use Farr's aero bar but want to attach my Extreme Lights Endurance light to the end point of the aero bar.  Has anyone done this before?  I dont want to put out the money for the carbon aero bar when i cant attach the light as intended, or this no proven way to attach the light to the aero bar.

Any insights welcome!

Thanks!

It makes sense, but I've reached out to both Two Wheels Trading and Extreme Lights and neither can confirm that the two will be compatible together that why I'm checking with the hubbers whether anyone has done this before

That area is not round so if the light has a round handlebar clamp with a rubber band it will struggle to grip the mounting area tightly enough. I have that aero bar so I know what you’re asking.

If you can replace the light handle bar mount with the older half moon and rubber band mount and use a small band to get enough tension to hold the light down

I have these, it’s designed to use with a FARR adapter for an extended computer mount. As above 👆🏻, will need to fill in rubber wedge to make it functional or take the measurements and get 3D printed spacers.

Definitely not 'aero', but thats part of its name.  I want to add it for additional hand positions and thought about adding the light to the aero bar to neaten the entire set up. Looks like the solution is to design something that will fit the odd shape of the aero bar and have it 3D printed

Forgive my inexperience but would something like this not be more practical. Not aero, but I don’t think anything is aero once you’ve got an Endurance setup mounted.

Out front bar

your link is recursive!

my feeling here, if it's roundish you can make it fit. Might need some macguyver work, but that's half the fun.

@cjpaul007It works like a charm for Extreme lights. No adaptors needed.

The bit on the end that you circled is round. Having a light on it does take away some of the functionality for providing more hand positions, primarily because of the cord going to the lamp, which, with extreme lights, does need to be treated with some TLC.

are those allowed at 361?,  outer bar ends are allowed but not inner from what ive been told

Ive seen a couple of guys use the Farr aero bar at the 36One. I used inner bar ends from SQ lab last year and didnt get into any trouble 😉. I think the guys dont want you to use aero bars as you would in the Munga, mostly because of safety concerns (I guess)

Oh man, that's sexy. Only sure fire way is to take my light with to cycle lab and test it on the stock they have, and I really hope it fits!

ok,  when i did ask, i got this.

Unfortunately drop bars will not be allowed, please see CSA rule below:

4.1.040
During MTB races no traditional road handlebars may be used.
Clips-on extensions or inner bar ends are forbidden but traditional bar ends are authorized.

Ja. They told me the same thing. I wanted to buy the integrated Farr handle bar with 'aero' mount for the race. I didnt buy it because of what they told me, but put on inner bar ends which plenty of guys had.  Its also gravel bike friendly so I dont understand why road handlebars (which I think refers to drop bars, like you mentioned) are prohibited.  Its not like most of us are competing for a podium finish...
