Washing a Hydration pack

So before anyone says google or jump in.... NOT THE BLADDER, THE PACK ITSELF

 

so i found a million online videos about for to wash and care for your bladder but next to nothing about the pack itself. For reference its a Uswe and a Evoc Hydro pro.

 

How do you guys wash your packs?

Hiehie ..... let me put my foot in it .... 

 

I put the "pack" in a pillow sleeve, then in the wash with the rest of the sports clothes.  I dont want the straps tangling with everything else ...

 

 

Uhmmm ... by the end it had come out of the sleeve .... no idea when.

 

I will make a similar pillow cover type bag with velcro to keep it closed for the next wash.

Mesh laundry bag from Temu with Zip or drawstring. Wash with other sportswear. Alternatively zip tie the end of your pillowcase to keep the hydration pack and its goodies inside the pillowcase.

After every ride, empty the pack completely and brush clean soiled areas with soapy water.
Never put your pack into a washing machine or dryer (only hand wash).
The pack fabrics can’t be ironed.
Zippers must be kept clean for improved lifetime.
To store: close the pack and keep it in a dry, well ventilated place.

How to clean A Hydration Backpack
The packs are bound to get dirty; they are made to be used out in the mud and dirt! Sometimes you might want to give the pack a quick light cleaning. Just empty all your stuff out and use a clean, soft sponge to wipe the interior. When cleaning the exterior, add some soap to the sponge and then rinse it off.

If the dirtiness gets out of hand (even we got our standards) you can handwash the backpack in 30 degrees warm water, and ad some soap or detergent if necessary. Try to not chuck them in a washing machine or a dryer as the inner lining protecting the inside of the pack from wetness will get damaged over time. Just hand it upside down and let it dry.

I washed my Uswe in the machine and i regret it. It’s never been the same since. It lost its perfect look. Nothing another person will notice but I as the owner can tell it lost its bolsterous look. Lol. I would stick to a soft brush and luke warm water. Handwash all the way.

in the shower after a ride

if it is really sif from sweat, it goes in a big bucket with some antiseptic for a few hours, followed by a rinse with a hose while hanging on the washing line.

I just use the Muc-off soap spray and a brush to clean it and then a rinse. Has cleaned some of the gnarliest, mud-encrusted ride fall out ever. USWE recommends not to put it in the washing machine. 

Key is to wash it before it dries out.
