Bought a pair of FiveTen’s as its not available in SA. Shipping was reasonably priced on 3weeks delivery to post office with a standard i port tax applied. Still worked out less than normally priced shoes at the local bike shop, plus I got what I want.

For parts I would use Merlin in UK, better priced than BikeInn

I just ordered from Bikeinn. Some Power pedals.

Chose UPS. Ordered mid day Sunday, they arrived mid day Wednesday. 3 days all in, so I am super impressed. Spain - Germany - Jhb - Cape Town.

No duties, just VAT and clearing costs (paid through UPS) so ended up over 20% cheaper than any local supplier.

Good morning, if I may ask. How much was the price when on their site and what was final cost, I am also looking to buy the Favero Pro MX - 2 power Pedals which is currently R11 379 and normally R18 999!

They seem slightly cheaper on the direct Favero site, but I'd compare courier costs. You should only have to pay VAT on 110% of the value (i.e. 16.5% VAT), no duties as far as I know.

I ordered a part now from Bikeinn with ups shipping. The VAT amounted to R192 which is accurate. They’ve then slapped on a disbursement fee of 140 bucks and a brokerage administration charge of 248 bucks pushing my total to over 550 bucks which is ridiculous.

So yeah just beware if you choose ups option.

Thought I'd post my experience - ordered a few products from BikeInn (Handlebars, Tyres, Chainrings, suspension seal kits, cranks amongst other things) - ordered on the 23rd of Feb and everything arrived by the 26th (Used UPS and had no issues at all) - largely depends on if BikeInn has everything in stock, if not expect to wait a couple of days but their delivery timeline seems accurate.

You can expect to pay about 25% - 30% on top of your order total (Products + Shipping cost) for Customs VAT, DISBURSEMENT FEE and BROKERAGE ADMINISTRATION CHARG... the last two being something that UPS probably just slaps on.

Like many others have said in this thread, the only way you win and save compared to buying it locally is if you're buying a few products, otherwise shipping does get costly if you plan on just ordering one or two items.

The price you see, before checkout (including transport) is excludes customs VAT (ATV).

So customs vat = [FOB value + 10%] * 15%, and then handling fees and whatever else the local agents charge. Or if there are duties payable, it would be added to the FOB value before applying the 10% and 15% calculation.

FedEx lied… there is customs VAT payable.
