POPs mean nothing. If money isn’t cleared on account, it is the money of Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Simple. Stay alert all…

But, the whole point of using Bikehub pay, is that the money doesn’t clear into the sellers account until the buyer confirms receipt of the item. You pay to Bikehub pay, they hold the money in “escrow” until you confirm receipt and then transfer it to the seller. Which is why this new scam is so concerning. But one should quickly pick up the @gmail.com email account and red flag should go off immediately.

A deal via Bike Hub Pay also requires initial acceptance by the seller. So if you've not received AND accepted an offer prior to getting a payment confirmation from us, it's a big red flag.

The key advice is no matter what transaction method you've chosen (Bike Hub Pay, direct EFT, etc), don't take any email or SMS confirmation as proof of payment. Log on to Bike Hub to check your Deals page for payment status, or for a direct deal, log on to your banking app to confirm the money has actually reflected.
