@Pure Savage judging from this the front runners in C should get bumped by one or two start groups...

So I reckon Jason and David seeding will improve from B, Cam as well. Tony and Klyde finished same time as B, and they were seeded C, so also probably will help their seeding.

Think the constant 2.5 hours of suffering will probably help in the future more than the seeding.

I manged to hold the front bunch of D only until the second roller on the cross tailwind section on VoorPaardeberg - which I was pleased with given the state of fitness. Some stragglers and I got caught by E but then cramps struck on Adderley and I was forced to stop - I was massaging my right adductor in a manner that might have gotten me arrested for public indecency in a different context by the 2 nice traffic policemen who stopped to see if I was OK -

I'm also increasingly risk averse these days - the number of overweight MAMILS carrying speed into the rollers to avoid being dropped by riding on the wrong side of the road on blind rises is deserving of comment once again, especially when the wind is coming from the left - okes - if you are already up against the white line in those circs you just have to slow down for the bunching up effect and then put in the watts to stay in the bunch or not. You're risking everyone's well-being by crossing the line.

But an enjoyable morning out despite noodling in over 3 hours.

Expert marshalling in both D and E - great job the motorbike riders.

Gotta love it when DurbieVille comes alive on a Sunday with cyclists of all sizes, ages and shapes. Everyone with their own performance goal hoping to end without cramp, finish with elegance, drag a buddy up the alphabet or have that elusive podium spot in their bunch sprint ending under the bloekombome on Koeberg Kicker.

I managed to stick to the front split of D bunch and ran out of matches with 3 kms to go, time trialling to the white chalk at a mere 3.8 w/kg. There were some hardworking roleurs in the headwind gusts which showed excellent form and grit.

My spouse and son waiting with chocolate milk and cheering at the finish, priceless. 💕

I remember the bright pink jersey @Charles71 And also too many unshaven pistons in the bunch - truly unsightly. 🤐

Crossed the white chalk a minute later after zero turns in front as this was a true ‘let’s see how far I can stick to the front 1/3 of the bunch’ strategy on the day. My last outing in the bunch was 13 months ago, rendering me somewhat risk-averse and conservative. 🥴

Guilty as charged, I was "encouraged" to shave my pistons, would definitely be borrowing my wife's shaver before the Cycle Tour 🤩

I saw the the outliers in group C when reviewing the finishing times last night, wow..that was some impressive riding!

100% agree with the sentiment re those riding beyond the white line, a few times I had to shout "you're on the wrong side of the road" cos we had cars coming up from opposite direction and the pushing in as a result of this was just an accident waiting to happen. I'm glad though that we had zero crashes in our group this time - unlike the three we had at 99er.

I heard from some guys in BL that the motorbikes were actively disqualifying people who went over into the opposing lane. Can't say I saw that happen at any point in EL, even though we had a motorbike with us most of the time and there were plenty of times when people went over into the opposing lane. Especially over any hlls in the beginning when the group was still big.

Dunno how hairy your guns are. Just remember the extra aerodynamic drag is the potential difference between 2:59:59 and 3:02:00 at the Cape Town Cycle Tour. 😶

I have zero problem with that (the disqualifications)

Had a blast from C, had about 12 Savages that pulled through. A hard day out, hoping Diesel doesnt notice.

Jason whose been riding Tuesdays with us recently pulled on some Savage kit, must have added 25w to his FTP, he went off with 17km to go.

Was great seeing okes bury themselves, not sure how well we did for the whole improving seeding, but it was fun.

I particularly enjoyed benefiting from the Savagery in group C. After burning a few too many matches bridging the gap after the break on Slent Road, I just about managed to hold on till the finish. Reckon this ride will definitely improve CTCT seeding. Thanks for a great effort guys!

I think some people from K and maybe other groups opted for the 79km option midway through the race 😂😂

Cam almost opted for it as well! He downloaded the 78km onto his Garmin. (Luckily he wasnt on the front)

My only concern is that sometimes I find myself over the white line as someone has decided to pull in or over randomly. So most of time its avoiding action. But sitting there for prolonged periods is the issue.
