Hi All

Just wanted to check if there is any fellow hubbers cycling and living with a chronic anal fissure?

I have been diagnosed and operated on, but still feels uncomfortable. Any advise would be appreciated to riding better and more comfortable. I would really not like to give up riding :(

Wikus,

Tough stuff, man

Because it is a very hardworking contact area that is exposed to high pressure, constant vibration and incessant friction, your highest priority is rest and recovery. The extent of the injury will obviously depend how long you should be healing up and whether ongoing medical intervention is needed.

In sum, it's complicated due to a variety of factors from your age, weight distribution, the severity of the injury, your lifestyle, nutritional intake and your ability to rest/recover, etc.

From a psychological point of view, believing you can fully recover is key (optimism), demonstrating the necessary patience and grace allowing the body to heal up (self-compassion) and adjusting your lifestyle to best complement the medical recommendations as provided by your specialist (responsibility and personal agency).

Note: I am not a sports physician and I work closely in the rehabilitation process of elite athletes as being part of medical teams in high performance environments.

Sterkte.

Sounds rough, hopefully someone here can chirp in with some real world experience.

Two thumbs up for posting this thread topic under your actual name, I guess what you've been for there is no need for discretion anymore!
