Hi,

So i finally got myself  a bigger car, with a towbar and I am looking for a new carrier.

I have 3 racks that i'll put on the market as i now need a towbar rack (if anyone want to swap, please let me know).

I am not sure if anyone have or familiar with the Jetour T2 , it's a 4x4 with a towbar, 4x4 tire on the back and the boot door open side-wise .

I believe nothing beats the thule ones?can I still get one from volvo? anyone know where in gauteng i can get it?

Also what will work best with my car?

It'll be used mostly for my carbon road bike, but i also have an MTB and my dad have an ebike.

2 bikes rack should be fine.

thanks.

One word of caution - make sure to get the Thule with the WIDER bike spacing.

I went the route of the Thule tow bar carrier. I had to get the tow bar extended to reach past the spare wheel. I used a company called Autobar in Pretoria to do it.

I did have a problem getting the lights to work. Jetour had to make some changes to the original plug socket but its all working fine now

Awesome, did you get the jetour experience?

I am also still waiting to see if i can get  specific mount for the spare wheel.

Can I still get a volvo carrier for cheaper?

Have a close look at YOUR vehicle. Some are designed to carry load, on many the door bends when you add extra weight on the wheel.

Would be interesting to know what happened here ....

Would be interesting to hear if a standard trailer lights works ??

Isolated issue, or something that needs tweaking for people wanting to tow ?

Ok thanks,

I am only looking at the official jatour carrier , it looks like it can handle a bike or 2.

bump....thinking about the BuzzRack BuzzyBee 2 .

It'll be mostly 1 bike (road,or mtb) but sometimes my dad will join me with his ebike.

I think it should be fine, just not sure it i'll need an extender .

I can see it kinda tilt also, would be interesting to know if i can still open the sideways door.

So recently had to do the same research.

Basically you have the option of three bike racks.
Thule Outpace 2 (or 3)
I was at Thule in Menlyn and they did not tell me about this rack.  Later I found out that Specialized has the distribution on these racks and hence Thule not telling me about it.  Not sure.
Thule tried to sell me a VeloSpace which will work if you buy the added bracket with to get around the sparewheel.
Both these options are around R25k.

I went to Solomons cycles for option 3.  Buzzrack Eassy 4
You can easy mount two bikes and cost R13k

I have to say this.
Thule is better.  Quality wise the Thule is nice. And with Thule, the clamps can lock.  Buzzrack only locks on the towbar and not the bikes.
I like the mounting better on the Tule and if I could fork out double what I paid for the Buzzrack I would have gone for the Outpace.

Thus far the buzzrack works and does what it needs to do every so once a month

This is becoming very expressive....I tried to get a quote for a towbar extender and this is what was sent to me?

SP140 Xramp 140Mm Tow Ball Spacer N/A N/A 0.00 607.83 1 699.00
9530097 Flange Tow Ball 2 Hole Heavy Duty - Black N/A N/A 0.00 346.96 1 399.00
XKIT Xramp Gooseneck Tow Ball Adapter N/A N/A 0.00 2 607.83 1 2 999.00

Total about R4100 (and thats without a rack,,,,)

So now i am thinking Buzzrack BuzzRacer 3 for R6500 , this shoulld allow me to carry 2 bikes.

I also called autobar as suggested on top but they estimated it at R850 but they said they need to check...i'll be very annoyed if i get there and they tell me R4000+

The "extension option was around R4k but would not have worked as my tjor has a fold-away knob and putting the extension on and taking it off every weekend would be a real shlep
