Hello, anyone else getting an allergic reaction while riding this time of year? Im thinking it might be pollen in the air? Paarl area.

Depends how you define allergic reaction. Hives and runny nose? Or systemic signs of dizziness a tight chest etc. if it’s the former , a non sedating antihistamine prior to cycling should help, if the latter-whether during exercise or a short duration after, I’d suggest consulting a professional.

As mentioned, especially this time of year. I live in Potch, and from November until beginning of April it is no mountain biking for me.

The sneezing, wheezing, itching, runny nose, especially when the maize and Smutsvinger grass is in seed is sommer annoying.

Allergex eye drops can also be a very good friend in times like this.

And a salfie for the itching legs as well.

You can thank me later😉

I used to use all the well known tabs like Allergex etc for a (household) dust allergy (rhinitis - dripping nose) but nothing seemed to nip it in the bud.

Chemist advised taking FEXO 120. Works very well and is non drowsy. Dymista nasal spray also helps in severe cases but is expensive!

Hope this helps...

If you look briefly at the report for CT dated 20th March versus report for CT for 27th March, you can see there is somewhat of an (expected) decline; things hopefully trending downwards for Winter, until next September!

My brain fart - tables for last 2 weeks NOW ATTACHED, for comparison !!!!

week ending 27th March  https://pollencount.co.za/report/27-march-2026-2/

My chest has been struggling with mucus on and off since around October last year. I'm so used to it now I've accepted it as a normal part of life. I haven't seen any doctor but suppose I should at some point.

I've been battling sore, runny eyes and hayfever off the bike and I REALLY battle especially with my eyes and nose while riding.

Ive tried most eye drops and nothing seems to work.

I was prescribed Oxylin drops which don't seem to help.

Allergex eye drops are out of stock and apparently the manufacturing facility has closed.

The only thing that helps are corticosteroids but I can't deal with the other side effects and theye are not good for you in the long term.

ah its so annoying to have these symptoms. Doctor gave me Flex 180 and Betadexamine for 10 days... I hope it will be solved.
