Advice needed

ok the question is as follows:

 

when i am in the 2nd chain ring on the front the rear deraileur is in the position as shown in pic 1 with the rear cluster being on the second last gear.

 

what would the solution be if i wanted to ride on the 2nd chain ring on the front and lowest on the rear ??

 

would shortening the chain by a link do the trick or are there other adjustments that could be made to the deraileur ???

yeah, you could solder some plates in to get the jokey wheels further apart. nice trick, very clever and surely attracting attention wherever you go! FAR OUT MAN!

ok so what is it ??? shorten the chain or tighten the cable ??

 

my soldering skills suck so that is no option CryCry i would probably muck everything up Wink

Shorten that chain two links. but I would not connect it again with a chain tool as it might yield a weak link. Get an easy link at a bike shop. If you get such a link, you might end up having to remove another link.

Uhm.. Before you shorten the chain - is it a new chain?

 

If yes, you need to shorten it most likely. If no, has anything changed on your setup?

no nothing has changed exept its a new chain that i had put on just before knysna and yesterday whilst i was removing the mud i noticed that this was happening !!
