Yeah.. and lance won 7 times because of his high VO2max...

well, have you noticed that his domestiques(Landis/Hamilton...) got bust for dope after they've left USP/Disco? Anybody wanna tell me that a clean cyclist will drop the dopers?

I never said or assumed that those 5 records were all broken by people who are just eating barley green and drinking herbal tea.

Quite the contrary actually.

so you think they took drugs?

I think its ignorant to assume that those 5 world records were broken by eating barley green and drinking herbal tea..

You are not just ignorant you are stupid too.

Read what I wrote....

Thats ok.. you're entitled to your opinion. And when someone disagrees with you' date=' calling them names isnt going to make the suddenly agree with you...

technically, he actually called you adjectives, not names, which would be nouns. but, agreed, it's still not a nice thing to do.

Dude... either you think they took drugs, or you think they didnt.

Me, i think they did. Obviously that pissed you off, but then later you say you think they did.

Four scenarios:
1. Swimmers must be much smarter than cyclists. There have only been a handful of positive tests in swimming in the past few years.
2. Swimming isn't testing its swimmers rigorously.
3. Swimming is testing its swimmers rigorously' date=' but keeping the results quiet...
4. The suits really are that effective.

Incorrect....

The problem with cyclists is the amount of drugs they use. Cyclists use far more products at much higher dosage that swimmers.

EPO for instance. Cyclists at top level will use 4000 units every second day at minimum and microdose on 350 units per 75 kg's during competition. Swimmers use about 3000 units per week and microdose on the same amount. Cyclists will also use most of the season whereas the swimmers only seem to use before big competitions.

It doesnt seem to make sense that the dosages vary so much but this is what they are using. Perhpas the duration of the event has something to do with it.

Besides, EPO is not the prefered substance anymore. There is far safer and more effective things out there now.

Popcorn is being banned. You may have pineapple icecream on your pizza though. And why doesn't witsox ask Chunks for some facts before going into round 4?

I'm an ostrich and proud!

I went through a "suspicion" phase and you know what it got me? Nothing. Diddly squat. Perhaps at most an unhealthy dose of negativity.

So now I enjoy any and every sporting achievement and don't event think about the drugs.

The question is (and this is mainly aimed at fandacious): does it matter?

I know it sounds like I'm subtly endorsing drugs in sport (which I most definitely don't) but ultimately does it matter? Does the suspicion of the average South African 10,000km away from the Olympics do anything to change the attitude of sporting people towards dope?

No it doesn't.

I've found my new outlook has made me much happier. I used to race Vets Road and sometimes I won but mostly I lost and when I lost I always wondered if those around me were doping (and apparently doping is rife in the age categories?!). Now I just don't think about it. I race duathlon/mountain bikes/road/whatever and end the event happy with the fact that I did as well as I could cleanly. If the others took drugs then so be it.

The drug agencies may catch them - probably not buy maybe....

I even enjoyed Ricco's achievements and don't really care that he did it drug induced - it made the stage no less entertaining. Watching sport with half a brain on cheating will only create mental anguish. Was that F1 car using an illegal exhausts system? Is that cyclist taking drugs? Are the swimsuits legal? Who cares? Not me.

I'm thoroughly enjoy the purity of sporting achievements in an impure world happily aware of my blissful ignorance.

so they'd use it to keep them going for longer in training, but would be of little help over relatively short distance races in competition?

No, as a spectator I dont give a hoot..

BUT If I'm an aspiring swimmer and I get left out of the olympics because someone else doped, i'm not going to be a happy camper
