I suppose you have to go through the retailler. What retailler is going to lie about the invoice if he has been jimmy'ed out of a sale.

 

Spose a good relationship with your LBS could come in handy...

 

The problem is buying a second hand bike often goes against building a good relationship. Tough one.

 

Some shops selling "boutique" frames have used ones where a customer has upgraded etc and they will honour the warranty.

 

If your LBS owner will soon become your son-in-law it's all cool .........

At the end of the day, if you're a good customer, your LBS will still profit from you servicing your bike and buying all your accessories n supplements from him, so helping you out is in his best interests too. I know my LBS won't hesitate to help me out, even if i don't have the invoice...
