From the little I know about power training what is apparent is the attacks/surges that he put in and how often he did/can do it.

Andrew's avg power output for the race was 225

watts. Is that not a bit low? Or is the other stats more relevant to his efforts?

The reason why I am asking is my avg power output for the lost city race was 248 watts and I had a swak day and cruised along at my own pace.

I am new to this and ordered the power training book' date=' damn amazon/SA postal service taking forever !@!

For a race like this, Normalised Power gives the average power that the rider would have had to sustain to achieve the same physiological stress.  This is due to all the effort above threshold.

Assuming you are a male - not many females would call themselves 'The Hoff'

You are pretty much an allrounder.

Andrew is about 5% off his peak at Nationals this year.  He hasn't done a threshold test in a while' date=' but based on his RPE for this race and the numbers, I'd put him at around 330w FTP. [/quote']

so a FTP of 5.2 w/kg - now that's impressive.

i wonder how many of the young guys racing in the elites sit at that type of number

If I remember correctly Jaco is close to 6 w/kg.  I'm sure Cruxie knows the exact numbers.

Bruce, where were you for the race, since we finished together?

Mine was TSS 257, NP 277, IF 0.902, FTP @ 320.

Karen reckons I should push the FTP up to 330, but then the pain during the week becomes to much Cry

Those stats or Andrew are serious - at 5% improvement that puts him at 5.5w/kg!!!!
