Right. Now this is an opportunity for the silent (and not so silent)  to express their feelings in support of AM.Star

I think that you will look back in time and see the price fixing episode as a bump in the success story that is Cycle Lab and a career in cycling. You admitted to mistakes. But your contributions to SA cycling cannot be ignored, and many cyclists who walk into cycling shops around the country do so with a small part of their consciousness having been influenced by your promotion of cycling through your participaton in Supercycling, week after week, after month, for years. And thousands have prepared themselves for their first races and involvement in this awesome sport through the club that you started. These facts, and others, must offset the negative of the price fixing episode, and warrants at the very least forgiveness. Your business will evolve to meet the vagaries of the market, and you will have been stimulated to think out of the box to explore new business options. May you continue in your success, and continue to do good for the sport.

Note: I have spoken personally to Andrew on two separate occasions, another time on the phone, and seen him on a number of occasions without talking to him. The last contact of any sort was in 2005. I am neither a friend nor acquaintance, and I have no stake in the success of his business, and no, I am not *rs*creeping. I don't know Fritz, and maybe someone who does can try the same topic for him.

I took my bike there before the D2D as I had a problem with my FD/STI. The mechanics spend 30 minutes on trying to solve the problem. Andrew came there himself to assist,  being very friendly and determined to solve the problem. He offered to send the STI to Shimano if the problem presists. So far it is working relatively OK. They did not charge me a cent.

I will certainly take my bike back there if needed. I know you cannot expect personal service like that every time, but small gestures like that will certainly make me go back and support him.

I ride in the same category as him, but no-where in the same class, so I respect him for his achievements and what he has done for cycling.

Well done Ali for being so supportive under very tough circumstances.  This is one of the sweetest Hub posts I've ever read. Approve  I can only imagine what you've been through the past few days.

I won a full set of Shimano XT V brakes in a Cyclelab competition. They are now on the black tandem.

Andrew is the most influential person in South African cycling. Some like him, some hate him, but I reckon most respect him. I like that he is a doer and not just a talker. Can't wait for that new bike park to open 5 kays from my house!

Oh, and just to confirm, his surname is spelled like this: McLean. If you're going to criticise or praise someone, at least get the spelling of their name right.

He said in his post he does not know the guy and if Andrew was really that fussy on how his name was spelt then let him do the talking !!!

Sorry Yang, that tone wasn't actually intended. Well done on starting a positive thread. It's so refreshing among so much negativity. I always wonder why most people find it easier to criticise than to compliment...

I honestly don't see the point of this thread.  It just feels kind of false after the BIG PRICE DEBATE.  Nothing personal, just feels like some kind of misplaced PR attempt.
