pastapouch Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 No thanx we descent fast enough!!!!! ah, only because of your weight...
E1A104 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I wonder if Basso will keep his dealer or if he will also dump him and use the disco pharmacist?
Delgado Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 So the rumour IS true then ..... Tandems riders do go down faster than the rest of us!!! Down where??
E1A104 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Ask Britney, Ronaldo, Rooney or Muscle Mary ........
Hype Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 The reasons listed by Big H are completely skewed. Shimano made bombs ? Great. That's like saying Coke is better than Pepsi because Dr John Pemberton made a good meatball sauce. WTF ? When comparing two articles it's better to use practical facts. Like Britney's boobs feel better than that chicks from Hugh's playboy mansion because Britney's are salt water bags and that blonde bimbo's are silicone - that kind of analysis. E1A104 I'm impressed by your knowledge. Glad you listed the Campag "firsts" which Big H didn't.
Guest Big H Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hype, you only list one "reason" to prove I am skewed and of course you will be prejudiced..... you are xcentric and ride Kempek. I am a discerning cyclist who knows when a product is inferior or not. I am however not a specialist. O yes another reason is LANCE USED SHIMANO...... somebody who KNOWS and can discern "the sh!t that will kill us" would have chosen Kempekkernoglia if it was better. He did use Kepek on his Fondriets when he rode for Motorola. Why did he not continiue using it..... ok give us one of your one sided and witty reasons.!!!!!!!
E1A104 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 And your comments are balanced? Eddy Merckx only used Campagnolo and as we all know he was a far better cyclist than la could ever hope to be. The day la can do the Giro/TDF double not 1,not 2 but 3 times then perhaps he can be mentioned in the same breath as Eddy Merckx.
fatcyclist Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 LANCE USED SHIMANO...... everyone has their faults...
Mudsimus Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 So the rumour IS true then ..... Tandems riders do go down faster than the rest of us!!! That explains alot......
Hype Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 The Pro's ride with what they are given. If Discovery chose to ride Giant bikes with FSA groups tomorrow he'd have to go along with it. Lance doesn't choose Shimano. And you listed Campy not supplying MTB's as a bad reason but now you're using road riders as a good example for Shimano. If road is the standard then let's stick to road. And if you're using Pro's as an example then let's go by recent history ..... which is that the most recent winner of the Tour is Landis and he rode ..... CAMPAG. And if he gets disqualified the the winner will be Perreiro. And he rides ..... CAMPAG.
Guest Big H Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Tour riders use what they are given to ride ..... as you so aptly and eloquently wrote.
Hype Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I was following your example on the name dropping. But you still give no practical reasons for Shimano's "superiority". Weight, price, feel, performance, etc.
E1A104 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Except Merckx who insisted on only using Campagnolo ..... wise man. How is this for a decent CV Milan - San Remo7World Champs3Paris - Roubaix3Giro5Tour of Flanders2L-B-L5TDF5Giro de Lomabardia2Vuelta 1and that excludes his track races.
SwissVan Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I was following your example on the name dropping. But you still give no practical reasons for Shimano's "superiority". Weight' date=' price, feel, performance, etc. [/quote'] Only 2 reasons worth worrying about - IMOShimano feels smoother and works better with less fuss. Shimano parts available almost anywhere - try get a capmag thingy from your LBS without having to wait 4 months.1 PLUS for Campag, Clean handle bars with no brake / gear cables blocking the view.
Mudsimus Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Only 2 reasons worth worrying about - IMOShimano feels smoother and works better with less fuss. Campag agents have all spares available and can repair ergo's.
Hype Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Ahhhh .... with Campy who needs parts ? No problems, no parts. Yes, the Shimano has a smoothness and it took a few rides to get used to the more mechanical changes of Campag but I certainly don't miss the way my Ultegra set used to jump two gears when trying to do a single gear change. Gear trimming is also made easier with Campag's system. As I said .... boils down to personal choie but at least we have some true "reasons" for Shimano now.
