Want to lose some extra kilo's

Recommended Posts

Hi guys....want to lose some extra kilo's this next couple of weeks, I know we had a similar discussion recently but what is the best though? Confused

Do some heavy miles everyday or rather do some harder shorter rides?

Example week:

2 hrs semi hard weekday rides

4 to 5 hr ride on weekends

OR

Example week:

3 to 4 hours weekday

5 to 6 hour ride on weekends

It's not rocket science: calories in vs. calories used.

If you're eating more calories than you burn you will get fat.  If you're burning more than you eat, you will lose weight.

Doing "heavy miles" everyday may not be sustainable, or enjoyable, in which case you will stop doing any miles.

One of my friends said the easiest way to lose weight is to not eat breakfast, go out for a really easy 1-2 hour morning ride with only water and then afterwards eat a banana. I'm trying it and think it's working!

You people are weird? Why would you want to torture yourselves like this. If I go out for a morning ride I have to eat before and after and sometimes during!

I fit riding inbetween my eating and it shows.

But how can you think about losing weight during xmas, oops the festive season. Their's mince pies and chocolates and good food. You can loose weight in January.

Ja ja...i know - he mostly lives in the UK and visits once or twice a year, but he does know a lot about cycling and have been doing it for quite a long time.

Some other advice he gave me: "Meisiekind, jy weet die bult daar agter...ry hom tot jy kotsDead." *some more gross details followed* Said he did it when he was in school. But he is pretty good now, so i sometimes actually listen to him...

And there's beer' date=' don't forget the beer![/quote']

The best feeling is when I do a ride (Stellenbosch - Sir Lowrys - Kleinmond - Pringle Bay - Strand - back to Stellenbosch) and have an ICE COLD AMSTEL!!! Takes about 2 sec to down one....Big%20smile

One of the tips Jaco Ferreira gave me was to not eat for an hour or two after your training ride, resulting in burning fat only during those two hours since you have depleted your glycogen reserves.

Dont do this if you plan a hard ride the next day...
