Well if you do decide to ride' date=' you're welcome to use one of my bicycles. The Litespeed Ultimate I commute on has 10speed Campy Centaur and Campy Vento wheels. You just need to put normal 23c tyres on (I use 28c cyclocross types for commuting).

The frame is a 59cm (and I'm 1.84m as a reference)..oh and I live in Parklands as well..

baie nice aanbod vetseun!

I was attacked last year, and within a matter of minutes the police had a name and address. They radioed in while I was in the vehicle with them, and the info that came back matched my description too.

Andre, sorry to hear and hope you recover quickly.

Don't want to be a prophet of doom but that plate number does not sound right.  NC is valid but the V number sound not right, unless it is a personalised plate.  The northern Cape does not have the volumes of cars as Gauteng for example and V is pretty far down the alphabet for the amount of cars registered.  This is just my theory and I hope I am wrong.

Should you however have a break and you do catch those guys, DO NOT LET GO.  It will take a lot of time and effort to follow this thing through to court, but if you at least get the case to court (nevermind winning the case) you have done all cyclists a favour.  THis will make people start thinking.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh and guys be carefull of traffic circles.  It seems to be a bad place for a bicycle to be.  Also almost got wiped out last week at a traffic circle.  Entered the circle and from my left a lady approached in her car at full speed and I realised she had no intention of stopping.  As a matter of fact, you could see that she is not paying any attention to the road.  I stopped dead in the middle of the circle on the yellow island.  As she passed me I noticed the window was open (oh, did I mention she still did not see dispite the fact of passing within a meter from me).  I decided this is a good time to wake the lady up.  As her window was right by me, I yelled at the top of my voice .... CIRCLE.

I think I took ten years of her life right there.  She "skirked" herself into another blood group.  She kept on driving apologising as she went on but I think this time she was actually awake smiley36.gif

Traffic circles are generally a hazard. Its seems that a lot of people dont know how they actually work and about 10% of drivers actually use thier indicators.

The circles in Parklands a just something else though. There are new bumpers lying on the road every week. Stop streets are just a waste of paint as well. Drivers out there have different rules - I cant wait to get back to the sleepy Southern Subburbs after a trip there.

I've only really noticed that people driving in Cape town have problems with using circles. Jhb/Pta (where I'm originally from) is fine, the circles flow well and people unserstand the concept of first come/right of way etc.

I think in Cape town it's understandable though as most people are busy looking at the mowntain or the whales in the ocean. I found that when I drove my car through the tunnel to get into the cape, my indicators suddenly stopped working, and nobody sells replacements here because flickers are actually illegal in CT.

WTF? Either I'm in the wrong part of JHB, or not stoned enough...

hahaha, well, you should see how bad the circles are here in the Cape. It really is insane. Not once have I seen them working like they should. I think [in general] drivers in GP are much more assertive.

On a daily basis I have to pass some idiot sitting doing 70k's in the fast lane of the highway. JHB drivers at least undersatnd the basic laws, then they choose to disregard them! ;)
