They collected premium for cover not needed and therefore they have to refund you!! ABSA will no doubt give you some cock & bull run around but don't be a typical SA consumer and just walk away!! Just take the copies of the cancellation instructions and take the case to Brian Martin whose is the Short Term Ombud 011 726 8900! Tell ABSA your intention to take the case to the Ombud as it may jolt them into action. Any case brought before the Ombud costs the Insurance Company concerned around R2,5k is costs....

Have instructed my broker to send the info, luckily she's a real pitbull and very responsible when it comes to the paper trail, just makes me sick cause it seems that the ethics of banks and ins co (or the general SA business ethics) are to f*ck the client over as much as possible without any concern for service or customer care, infact we have been enslave by the corporate world as they feel entitled to do as the please without fearing any conseqeuces, what has happend to work ethic and service, it seems to have been sold for a quick buc, a new S class, and a beach house.

Why the attack on doctors now - you clearly have no idea what you are talking about and what is going on in the medical field - just remember your attitude when you or your family need urgent medical attention.

So about 18 months ago I decided to cancel my bank insuarnce on some commercial policies that I own as they where about 40% more expensive. All the relevant cancellation letter where sent through and ABSA was instructed to cancel the policy as it was replaced with a more comprehensive policy through M&F' date=' at a far more competative premium. Yesterday I received a letter from ABSA informing me that my monthly premium is going up because the insurance premium has gone up. Guess what, the have been smoking me for R1500 bucs a month for 18 months, the is about R27,000 and they now deny any knowledge of any cancellations, even though we have proof of all the relevant documents as well as proof that it was sent. So do yourself a favour, check up on your bank, they have less scrupuls than a 2nd hand car salesman, and get your insuarance done by a broker, they will get you better cover for a better price, the banks only concern is how much they can rip you off for.[/quote'] They collected premium for cover not needed and therefore they have to refund you!! actually if you don't query your bill within a certain time window, it is seen as acknowledgement of services rendered.  So technically they were insuring you for that period (carrying the risk), so you are liable, because you did not confirm that the insurance was indeed cancelled.  Your negligence, regarding this (for 18 months) will now be used against you.  The bank will argue that considering the amount, you tacitly accepted the service, because it took so long to challenge the transactions.

I hope that they don't get it right, because then you will have some cash to buy me a new bike.WinkBig%20smileBig%20smile

I guess you have investigated and dismissed the possibility that a simple human error (on their side or yours) occurred.

Should we believe a bank group like ABSA/Barclays has nothing better to do than to try and screw you out of R1500.

I think about it everytime I have to wait for an hour in a doctors room because doctors think their time is more precious than others.Ouch

I agree with you that waiting periods in doctor's offices are frequently unacceptable but what you need to realize is that doctors often need to see emergency cases in between their routine cases - that invariably makes one late - just remember the next time that you wait, the doctor may be saving your friend who came off his bike's life.

I get your point but I think 90% of the time it's just poor time management. Don't worry, I'm on the list too. Us builders continuously take the blame for clients, architects, engineers, blah, blah, blah........LOL
