You roadies really are weird!

:) agreed

n Sunday morning a buddy decided to skip the funride and do our own training ride.

We rode down mainroad and around the peninsula to chappies and then over Ou kaaps.

He's training for Ironman so had the tri bar on the bike.

We pass a large group of riders while riding through Plumstead...

a little while later, I sense a presence and look over my shoulder. Grinning from ear to ear was a roadie....;" don't mind me, I'm not really here..."

Now this is sort of like hearing a knock at the front door and shouting "Nobody's home.."

The sneaky little roadie had probably been slippping us for quite a while.

this is a pretty dangerous practice. We had no idea he wa there cos somehow he managed to alsways be just out of view when I looked over my shoulders.

Courtesy always removes most problems so why not just say hello and enquire if it's ok to join in. but then do try to keep up..

All of you guys who have a problem with people slipping you

because of whatever reason (its dangerous, they are not working, etc..) - you

probably are not racing a lot on the road and are not comfortable in bunches.

The idea of slipping is in essence what road riding is about, slipstreaming and

attacking. If the guy sits on you wheel - attack the bugger if you don't like

it - else say a friendly hallo and then give them a chance to pace - then you

can attack if you really like to.

The road does not belong to you just because to be there at that point of time

- I always welcome people who want to ride with our training group and when on

my own will ride with and in front of anybody.

When I'm training I couldn't give a rat's a$$ who slips me for whatever reason. I just make sure that my training goal is still reached otherwise whateva mate!

On the other hand in a race I have been known to get a bit naar when someone slips most or all of the way with out working and then sprints past me at the end! Now that does pi$$ me off!
