WTF! How can you rate a bike on its colours? The Giant is one of the most tech advanced bikes you can buy. Because they mass produce you can get it at better price than "handmade Italian frames". If you see that that as a problem..get a life. Take the Scott CR1 frames...The naked carbon is butt ugly but its one awesome frame. If you need to judge a frame on looks then go ahead..buy a handsprayed, handbuild italian frame for twice that its worth and go ride with your yuppie friends. If you are a serious cyclist get yourself the best bike you can afford. If you really know how to use the bike no one will notice that the colour isnt eye catching.

Mud, thats exactly what I did, and recall that you sometimes beg to ride with.... so blah!!!! for the yuppi friends!!!!!!!http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_6_3.gif Still Modder, the bike should look nice, like you'rs!!!!!

And another Foking thing I did not rate the flippen bike, Idiot I simply said that it only looks nice not jaw dropping awesome like some other bikes do.......

Gaan sit solank daar inni hoek en tjank eks nou nou daarLOL

golefty, point taken on objectivity, but I think my first post reflects that. Hey, I even said I found a trek beautiful, which I did.

Mud, I don't have anything against Giants in general (despite the fact that you cracked two (?) frames), but that bike is uninspiring. Period. Wet toast buddy, wet toast. Hell I dont even wanna page back.

Psycho, I agree, the bike MUST look good. Crux always talks about bike porn. That giant is bike-huisgenoot. Worsie Visser se laaste ure. Joost en Amor in hul nuwe nessie. Celine Dion on centrefold.

Corret MWNN..I cracked two giants and got them replaced and upgraded in a week. Then I also cracked a De Rosa Merak...Try getting that Italian Craftmanship replaced..Dead And I think Psycho can back me on that one..

Have you ever seen the Giant from upclose? No? Wel dit is een bef*kte fiets!!

No matter what any of you say I would certainly take one of these bikes if someone offered.

Two questions though. The bike looks like it has a steel or alu stem - why not Carbon?

Secondly the handle bars are round on the top section by the stem,  I thought the flatter design was the way to go?

Those are alloy bar and stem. Most pro riders prefer that to carbon, simply because carbon bars and stems have no advantage. In fact its heavier and flex more than a decent alloy bar and stem combo.

Show me a Alu stem and bar combo that weighs under 200g for both... thought notWink

I think you'll find the pro's a). have a weight limit so most of their components are beefier to make up for the skinny frame, and b). the pros I've chatted to were a bit skeptical on the carbon bars breaking on them.

Even if you can find a bar stem combo weighing 200g you can gladly keep it. There is a reason the pro's dont ride them...they flex and brake. If your willing to sacrifice performance for a few grams..go ahead.

I Guess Boonen is not worried about flexing and braking carbon bars? Surely he puts about as much stress through the bars during a sprint as anyone?
