Eben - would you care to answer Jules' questions and babelkouses' allegations?

I'm just asking because in your first post you said you have nothing to hide....

Hi guys' date=' it is vitally important to be aware of what is included in your cold/flu/whatever medicines that you need to take!!! It is an important lesson that I have just learnt about the hard way.

I am not a Professional Rider, I have a normal 9-5 Job and then still try and train enough to keep up in the Elite bunch, so paying attention to what?s on the label or in the flu mixture medicine bottle has never been really important to me. Visiting a Doctor for some flu symptoms, I was prescribed some flu medicine and antibiotics, taking it under instruction and not thinking anything further about it. Well as you can guess where this is going, I received notification from CSA that I had a trace of Ephedrine in a Dope Test at the end of last year. A visit back to my doctor confirmed that some of the medicine contained Ephedrine in the makeup. I presented CSA with the evidence and letter of confirmation of the prescribed medicine from my Doctor. Ignorance is not an excuse or mitigating defence though, and as such, I have to serve a six month suspension from racing, which is the lightest penalty that they can impose. I am obviously disappointed that by not paying attention to such a small detail have cost me and the people that support me this unnecessary stress and aggravation, as well as the ability to race for six months. But it will also teach me to take responsibility for making sure that I am aware of what I am getting from the Doctor. Some people will obviously have their own opinion, and obtuse remarks, as they always do on the Hub, and I really don?t care about them or what they would have to say. I am posting this on the Hub because I have nothing to hide and that you?ve heard it from me first. Also so that other people can see that ignorance is no excuse, and to reiterate the bitter lesson that I have now learnt? Know What Is In Your Medicine!!!!

My comments are as follows:

This excuse smells like a BS story - sorry, but I don't believe it. As a matter of fact, we have heard it all before:

"it was in sweets my gran sent from Brazil"

"somebody spiked my drink"

"I drank too much beer"

"Its a dissapearing twin in the womb"

"The test procedure is flawed"

A lot of excuses sometimes jump to the fore when getting busted. This smells like the same thing.

I have noticed sudden jumps in the performance of some riders in a short space of time that seems too good to be true. In cycling, 99% of the time, it is due to dope. This seems to provide some answers to things I have been wondering about.

I'm not going to sit on the fence and say nothing:

I am sad to say, but I don't want to be in the same club as you, or any doper, for that matter (nothing personal) I think you should find yourself another team, if they will be happy with the results you can produce without dope.

Ouch

I phoned Drug Free Sport about 2 weeks ago. Wanted to know more about what the costs are for a test. Mbali from Drug Free Sport was extremely helpful. The cost is about R2500.00 per rider per test. But they do not charge Wink

As most of you Hubbers know, I am setting up my own Pro Ladies Team. I want my riders tested at least once a month. I think R2500.00 is a small cost to pay for any team, who has sponsors investing money in a team. I think we as team owners, managers, club captains or what eva, we need to pay more attension to these sudden spikes in our riders ability. This is our sport, if we keep turning a blind eye to bullsh*t like this, we have only  ourselves to blame. We all have a part to play to prevent drug taking or cheating in cycling. I know what is going to happen when I get to work on Monday morning, "did you hear about the SA guys who go caught for drugs" or "can we have our sponsorship money back, all cyclist take drugs"

For any cake who takes drugs to get a 6th at Bakwena, should just hang up his or her bike. Cherise finished in the elite mens bunch at last year race. I dont think she needed flu muti to do that.

Come on fellow cyclist, this is our sport. Lets cut the bullsh*t and just ride our bikes.

Eben or TCS representitive:

How honest is the KOM jersey Eben won in Maritius not to long ago? Was that also achieved by a little bit of extra help????

Hmmm, the plot thickens....

I have not added to this discussion because no matter what I say' date=' the people who are wringing their hands in delight and drumming aloud and dancing in glee at the situation will no doubt have their say and voice their opinions irrespective of what I have to say, and no amount of words, true or false would stop that.

To say that I am Most Disappointed in what has happened to Eben, a tCS rider, is somewhat of a Major Understatement.

Some of the comments & accusation directed at the rest / other tCS members were to be expected, from whom some of those comments came, was not, and equally if not more disappointing.

Again I am at the point where I question why I am investing the time, effort and money in a sport that is close to my heart, where I have done whatever I can to afford some riders the opportunity to enjoy their chosen sport as much as possible, only to be confronted by some of the comments and attitude from other riders and people that supposedly enjoy the same sport that I enjoy and support so passionately. When you do this for no reward other than the ?Thank You? from your riders and the appreciation in their action and attitude (cause believe me, my involvement in the sport in 4 years have not earned me a single sent in additional income from the ?sponsorship?) the reaction from other members of the cycling fraternity makes one seriously doubt your commitment to the sport!!!!

There are some things that I need to address and attend to before making any other comments regarding the situation. So at this point in time I will not add any other comments, either for or against Eden?s suspension.

To all who are wringing their hands in delight and drumming aloud and dancing in glee, hope you have yourselves a wonderful field day at my expense.[/quote']

I cannot but have doubts about the results that the TCS guys have

achieved now and that is not because I am wringing my hands in glee or

dancing or whatever. I do feel for the TCS guys that are riding clean and achieving results but ...

I remember a big hoohah on the hub a year or so back that TCS was a small tight

knit group of friends and to join you had to be nominated by existing

members and go through a vetting process. So I must assume that Eben

was vetted and I question how in your small closely knit group his

doping went unnoticed. The fact (or only a perception??) that you guys are such a small knit group just makes me question the reults of the

other guys more. (Which is a shame if they are clean).

From a few of the comments made it sounds like there were plenty of suspicions about Eben (and other TCS riders as well, Bruce?). Also, why would a 6th place rider be singled out for a test. As usual there is more to this than meets the eye. Crux, I'm sorry pal but you must take some responsibility for this. You must have known about the rumours. Even just turning a blind eye makes you complicit to a degree. Babbelkous obviously has more of a story to tell and I wonder what that will uncover. If it is not cycling related I'm not interested ...

No offence but you sound like every manager on the Pro Tour who claims innocence.

. Adolf' date= Jaco and Alex are also being blamed. When I know not one of you deserve it.

Jaco is known to hang onto cars in races, hardly a good example and that in the vets race.
